I just changed the primary fluid for the first time and I expected to find a little bit of metal on the magnetic drain plug, but I found a lot more than I expected. I took a couple pictures, let me know if this is normal for the first fluid change or not. BTW for reference the bike is just under 1100 miles. I'm going to say yes that looks normal but get a few more opinions if you want to feel better about it. |

I changed mine at 500, but it was close to the same. |

1st change at 500, mine looked a little worse. Next was about 75% less, and the third was not enough to talk about |

Tank Bueller is right, mine looked the same at first and caused me to worry a little, but I just changed it about every 1000, and now it has hardly anything... |

Dude what the hell is that on your drain plug? Looks like somethin is wrong with your bike, I think all the parts are disentigrating inside the case. Better replace your engine... just kiddin...or am I? |

Looks a ok. My 05 XB9SX with 26,600 miles on the clock has way less than what you have there now. During my first change at 500 miles it looks similar to that. Over time it will lesson. Sure freaks you out on the first change though, right? |

i change all my oil about every 2000-2500 and it has some metal shavings every time. Although since the beginning it has gotten to be less each time. |
