I have a deposit on a an 06'XB9SX - Regarding some seat options for an 06'XB9SX: I have read a variety of things about the Corbin seat and the Buell Select seat and I am trying to get some of the facts straight. On the Corbin site, they say that the gunfighter seat height is approx 29.5" and I have read elsewhere that it is higher than the stock XBS seat (around 30.1"). I would like the seat height to be at around 30" or less, along with having a seat that will fit the bike properly. I have heard conflicting things about the fit and the height of the Corbin. I have heard good things about the Select seat, but have also heard conflicting info about the Height of the Select seat as well. Does anyone have info on what the seat heights (Corbin & Select) would be on a stock 06' XB9SX, and if in fact the Corbin does not fit properly? | ||

The Corbin should be close to the stock sx seat. I have one and love it. Not sure about the new select seat. My Corbin was great on the 4K mile trip I took last year. The Corbin does take about 1.5K to break in completely but once it does it is a great seat. You probably can't go wrong with either seat, if you are fine with the height of the stock seat on the sx you should be fine with either. | ||

I've never been on a Corbin seat, but why wait 1.5k for it too break in? I just got my Select Seat and it is very comfy  w/o a break in time. | ||

Like all great things in life, the best part is after the wait. I am not saying the select is a bad seat, just has not been proven yet. The Corbin will give you many many happy butt days. I don't know if the select will or will not lose it's comfort level after awhile, only time will tell. Remember the select is rather new and the Corbin has been out for a few years with quite a few members on this board owning one. My Corbin fits just right, tighter then the stock seat did, yes it does take some fine tuning but it is worth it. Yes some may say it is a long break in session but you will be amazed how quickly the miles tick away. Plus it is very nice on the 800 mile plus days. If you do a few thousand a year and just ride in town I am sure the Select seat will last a long time and be a great seat, I just have not heard of any durability testing. | ||

Think .6 of an inch is gonna make that much of a difference? I would recomend putting some miles on the stock seat and see if your butt is happy. I see guys here who say the Corbin just dosn't fit them. My stock seat isn't that great for me and I am thinking Corbin myself. | ||

I just got back to the board, but thanks for the feedback. The thing is, the stock XBSX seat puts me kind-of on the balls of my feet and I would prefer to be more flat-footed. So the real deciding factor between the Corbin and the Select would be the height. I would prefer to go with whichever is shorter. If anyone knows that or knows someone who would know, I would really appreciate the feedback. Thanks again! | ||

The "Corbin Myth" about the time they take to break-in is just that. Corbin seats NEVER break-in! Your *arse just finally gets used to them.  *thanks to our brothers across the pond. | ||

I put my S on axle stands, and took pics of the seat at seat height with a tripod. Swapped the stock seat for my new Corbin after fitting, and took photos of it as well, minutes apart. The rearmost part of the main seating area on both seats was exactly the same height, the front of the Corbin being a bit higher, because of the shape of the saddle. You will notice the pressure on the insides of your thighs when feet down, but once on the pegs, the seat is AWESOME!! Love the look, fit, and feel of my Corbin. I second Bruce. I got my Corbin from Al also. The Corbin is a wider seat than the stock. With the stock seat I was flat footed (04 XB12S) and with the Corbin on the balls of my feet a little. I'm 5'9" with a 31" inseam for reference. The stock seat was very hard on my boys and if I kept it much longer I don't think I could have fathered any more boys. The Corbin takes a lot of work to get it to fit right but Al came through for me with detailed instructions. So my vote would be for the Corbin if you are around my measurements. | ||

Thanks! I am also 5'9" with a 31" inseam. I am curious how the Select seat height compares to the Corbin? I think that will be the deciding factor for me when replacing the XB9SX stock seat. | ||

I had a corbin on my F2 a few years ago and I hated it! I had 15,000 miles on it waiting for it to break in. I finally ordered a custom seat from Sargent and never regretted it. I put over 50,000 miles on that seat. Oh and it was half the price. | ||

I love my Select seat on my XB12S, Im not too sure about the passenger section. I have not had the wife out on it yet. Still too cold for her. The gel in the seat conforms nicely and it was just what the bike needed to make a long jaunt without thinking about how much your ass hurts. | ||

Does anyone have any oppinions on the passenger feel on the Corbin? I have heard a few brothers says that thier passengers really like the Select seat over the stock one. I think I am going to get a select, but just would like more data. | ||

I went from the low seat of the Scg to the select seat. I went from flat-footing to almost flat footing. Not a very big difference - maybe .6 inches higher than the low seat. In other words, the select seat is pretty low still, but much softer. Passengers report the difference was very dramatic - much softer and more comfortable on the select seat riding two-up. |
