Saw one of the "used to own Buell" folks on another site (no not the BORG) suggesting Buell get a 5 lap head start at Daytona. "What's next? Spotting the Buell a 5 lap head start?" What is the opposite of Kool-Aide? Vinegar.

Honda's new strategy is being adopted by their faithful. stolen from the 2006 Honda ad campaign: Honda, where we whine about the unfair advantage of companies with a total budget smaller than what we spend on paper clips. |

awww get that chip off. I've been seeing a consistent rise in tolerance, even support, for us on other boards over the past year. |

Tell ya the same thing I have told our Supreme Commander. . . ignore the whining and small people, keep focused on racing and doing the best you can. Concentrate on racing. Dave Gess and I have waited years to say that. |

Well, I learned from another board that not only am I a misinformed, un-knowledgeable, slow, over paying (etc. etc. etc.) with a headlight out rider.. But Buell PAID to have the Honda guy removed from AMA.. Yep, Buell and H-D have paid off AMA to allow them to win.. at all costs.. just so they could say they won a single race.. once in their respective careers.. Funny thing is, one of these guys once challenged me to a race (seeing as I'm not a racer) and not only did I tell him Daves would be happy to go street bike to street bike.. but I bet him there were Buell riders that would be glad to 'take it too the track' with him.. anytime. Yep, he declined all offers.. Wouldn't even post his CCS number so I could help him find some actual competition from a Buell.. Go figure.. It's fear of the unknown that has these folks all in an uproar. Let 'em choke on their own glycol.. This is gonna be so cool.. I almost can't contain myself.. hehehehehe.. |

Imagine, if the internet ever became self aware, the view it would have of humanity? Don't get me wrong, I'm an optimist looking for the good in all, but sheesh, sometimes its tough to keep pushing through the negativity and antagonism. Thanks to everyone here who help maintain the positive vibes. |

I've divorced my S1W at least twice in the past 7 years, but the bitch just won't leave me. I've tried ignoring her too but she's so damn good looking I can't leave her alone. Instead I find myself lavishing her in expensive jewelery and taking her out to all the best places. Somehow our relationship is blossoming once again. The bitch. Just when I thought I'd got away! And BTW, thanks for messing up the Google thing for me. I've been trying to locate a used pinion shaft for the boat tranny, whose part # is B5137. No way I'll ever find one of those things: Google is totally clogged up with directions to every business and Mom & Pop store located on "the B5137" in your lovely country! It must go 'round the island fifty times! |

Hmm, searching for: pinion shaft B5137 Turns up exactly one thing on google for me: http://www.tonanco.net/replacements.php Duh - Of course it doesn't actually list the part you want. Never mind. (Message edited by jlnance on February 23, 2006) |

Well, Jim, you’re a clever fellow – more so than me. I was using just the part number in my search, and thus got directions to everyplace in England except Rocket’s garage. But it was worth the trouble, just to have something to rag him about. I found the site you posted early on in my search, but that was before I had a part #, and was just looking for Twin Disc parts. I knew the tranny #, and found their list of pinions available for that model. Marine gears, or transmissions, come in various reduction ratios, and there was no pinion listed for my reduction of 2.95:1. Later on I got the part # for my pinion, but never bothered to go back to that site as I was sure it was not available. But even more later on, I discovered that the pinions for both 2.95:1 and 4.5:1 were identical. And that lead back to that website and the 4.5:1 pinion. (They do list that part #, but precede it with TA. I'm clever in other ways.) But it’s never easy out here on the edge of the world, and I now discover that their 800 # won’t work from here, and there is no other # listed for them. ("Hey - email me your local #.") The search is going into its second week, and that’s a week of getting up @ 0400 to make calls because of the time differences. Anyway, as an engineer, I thought you might be interested to hear that this pinion is in constant mesh with a bull gear, driving the output shaft. In order to get the two reduction ratios, two bull gears of the same diameter have a different number of teeth, but both will mesh properly with identical pinions. How do they do that? |

Those pic's will not arrive until the big Buell is really finished. No one gets to see her until...... She's still awaiting more jewelery and the paint job that's bound to cause a stir is not yet done. My excuse is, we are still one more cold snap away from Spring despite WSB kicking off this coming weekend. So she's still in hibernation. Rocket |

Anyway, as an engineer, I thought you might be interested to hear that this pinion is in constant mesh with a bull gear, driving the output shaft. In order to get the two reduction ratios ... Uh, my training is as an electrical engineer. I have absolutly no idea what a bull gear is. Does it mesh with cow gears? Now, if you want to talk about DC to DC power converters... |

uhh,ok, how 'bout this? I was shocked when I heard the prices! (Same thing for the Newmar converters when stepping up from 12 to 24. Whew!) Post some pics anyway, Sean. Then we'll have some before and after pics, and can see if... well, we can see the difference. |

Some more Vinegar. "PostPosted: Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:53 pm Post subject: Reply with quote it wont matter. Its cool that Buell put out a race ready bike. It sucks that they only sold them to dealer teams. Its not revolutionary by any means. Buell racing teams already have bikes with similar performance numbers, so this isnt some bold new World Killer bike. Its JUST a factory prepped version of what has been out there for some time. Its funny listening to the Buell KoolAid drinkers and the HD crowds loosing thier minds over this bike, predicting a Buell 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th place finish at Daytona, predicting the demise of the SV650 in club racing because of this bike.... if it werent so delusional and sad... it would be funny. unfortunately, its just delusional and sad. way cool that Buell has done this though. Race ready bike on the showroom floor (sorta)..." We is delusional! |

Its not revolutionary by any means. Buell racing teams already have bikes with similar performance numbers, so this isnt some bold new World Killer bike. Its JUST a factory prepped version of what has been out there for some time. I don’t know enough about this race prep stuff to comment on any technical aspects. But the one thought that I did have was this: What is the potential of the RR’s if the same talented folks mentioned in the above quote started with an RR? Is it possible for them to go a few steps beyond the production platform, and how far could they take it? (Not to say they could outdo Mr. Anony, but rather could they go beyond the point he chose to make available?) I sure would like to see what happened if Mr. Brown got hold of one of those things! |

Yep, Breaking at Daytona has got 'em stirred up. "I defy anyone to name a product...IN ANY genre, field, category...with a worse reliability record than a Buell. I mean, what could you possibly purchase that works worse than a Buell? I've won boardwalk prizes with higher quality tolerances." Our buddy on Labusas.org Wow what hate. Name for me one motorcycle that has groups of non-owners dedicated to creating, maintaining and spending time on site to discuss Buells. I can own any motorcycle I want and I love owning Buells. It's the people. Don't believe me? Spend an evening like we did at Nick's house and then attend an evening with a group of Hayabusa owners. The bike's way cool......but....geesh Court |
