$60 won't be far off the mark. Most the Badweb sponsors have a good selection in stock and some offer a discount. It's not a cheap manual, it is one of the best ever made. | ||

The shop manual gives me that. What does the parts manual offer to someone that already has the shop manual besides part numbers for the parts? Are there more intricate and detailed diagrams showing the parts? | ||

The exploded parts views in the parts manual are VERY helpful. The shop manual doesn't offer them to anywhere near the same detail and size. We're talking full page drawings. The inexpensive parts manual is WELL worth your investment.  | ||

Deej -- I've got both -- there are no diagrams in the parts book that do not appear in the Service Manual -- the diagrams in the parts book are much larger, though (which matters to me and Road Thing, but mebbe not to you. Yet.) Also, be aware that the disclaimer in the fron of the parts book that states something to the effect that the parts may not always be illustrated in the right relationship to other parts is not inaccurate. Us Tech Writers call these informational anomolies "Jokes." That said, there are very very few jokes in the parts manuals (mebbe two or three I can think of, none fatal) I like having the parts manuals both for the larger diagrams and the fact having the part numbers saves about 30 minutes when ordering parts (unless I'm order from Daves, in which case the 30 minutes is spent catching up, which is good) signed, a smart-mouthed, middle aged BadWebr | ||

I'll fifth (or so) the motion to get the parts book. At the very least, in addition to the benefits listed above, with the part numbers in hand, you can give those less-than-knowledegeable parts guys you run into from time to time a hand in getting you the stuff you need. And, when planning routine service, you can get any parts needed in-hand before starting. Be safe, Dave. | ||

Best ammo against unresponsive parts counter people. Sometimes you have to prove to them that what you want even exists. If you don't wanna buy one, as already noted, get everything from DaveS or other BadWeb Sponsor. The 10% discount will pay for a book in no time. | ||

Try Biker Bob's Harley (used to be Mowtown Harley south of Detroit on Telegraph Rd.). I bought one last month at 50% off for my S3T. I got extremely lucky on the same day stopping at Toledo Harley where they had the parts books for my M2 and S3T at 75% off. Mark |
