I am primarialy getting this for security when my wife is riding, but I am not sure if I want the sports rack which appears to be about 5" higher than the back of the seat, or the standard pack rack which is about 12-14" above the end of the seat. These are guesses as no dealers have answered that question. Does anyone know the heights of these 2 racks? PS: I would be interested in BUYING the brackets or racks used......for my 02 Cyclone. penick@nettally.com |

Not exactly sure what your intent concerning "security" is. If it is to act as a backrest, then please look elsewhere. The Ventura rack is not up to that kind of duty; it was not designed for that. You are pretty close on the geometry. The pack rack is made to support the pack. It acts as the rigid frame for the pack as well as the support for it. |

Wasnt planning on using it as a back rest, have been warned several times about that. It will just act as a buffer for her as she has this fear of sliding off. I am surprised that there that much difference between the sport and standard rack in height? The standard is almost twice as high....George |

Buy the high one if it makes her feel more secure. It will make the experience that much better for her and eventually she may get over the feeling that she's going to slide off. You can switch to the grab rail when you are alone and don't need the extra carrying capacity - Griff |

The sport rack is just a rack. The pack rack is also a frame made specifically to support the Ventura bike pack bag(s). It will look completely silly without a bag mounted on it. Just the grab handle may work best for your needs. |
