i chopped the cheese grater off and painted some parts black. i used the stock license plate bracket and mounted it under the tail so i still have the lamp for the license plate. brad

Did mine last winter. Simple enough to do.

i cut the cheese crater part off with a hack saw. shaped the rest with air grinder. drilled some holes to mount the signals and the license plate bracket. i was pretty easy to do. just be careful with the aluminum, you can burn through it quickly. time was about 10 - 12 hour total. good luck! |

Rudy, did you by chance check full suspension compression with that setup?? I ask, as per my wacko eye, that may hit under a complete compression, and shove that plate like a guillotine into the rear tire! I would at least check that with both riders and LOT of bouncing in the driveway!! Bruce |

and shove that plate like a guillotine into the rear tire! Plates are way more flimsy than a tire. |

yep, you are right, and oh by the way, I had a wood splinter shove itself through my tire while ridng down my street at 10 mph, failed the tire, and I almost dropped a brand new bike too. so whatever guys, love the thought processes around here sometimes........... |

OH, and you know the CAST ALUMINUM triangular shaped bracket UNDER the plate, unless he cut that off, would DEFINEATLY go right through the tire too... But then, I am a moron too for offering advice here in an ATTEMPT to make sure every rider gets home from every ride......... people......... |

I agree with Rr_eater ... I had the same setup as Rudy when I cut off the cheese grater .. but under load and a few bumps the plate hits the tire ... bad enough to feel it when riding .. So I made a mod similar to Rocket lifts it up by an inch or so .. no more scraping of the plate on the tire .. |

Rr_eater, thats nice that you have advice and such, but if you are going to offer it and then turn around and become pissy, then just save yourself the time and dont post at all. You have to learn that just because you offer advice, dosent mean that everyone will take it. Just take it with a grain of salt. |

I put my plate into my tire while riding a wheelie. It rolled the plate up under the tail like log. Tire was fine. I had to adjust the angle of the dangle by bending the plate holder up just a smidge.

seems to me if one were to measure distance from tire to lic. plate---- 5 inches should allow clearance!!!!! |

Under the load of a wheelie the rear shock will compress quite a bit. I saw the tag and he is not the only one to have that problem. |

I chopped mine planning on putting in the LED with the integrated signals. I added additional signals underneath on the sides of the plastic part. It wasn't done at the time of this picture. I'll snap a couple of picks tomorrow and post them.

Daveinm, is it painted or powder coated? If painted, is it holding well on the swingarm? |

Everything is black powder coat. Looks awesome, is easy to do, and is holding up great. The frame has the carbon fiver covers with gloss black vinyl underneath it. I'm too lazy to take the frame off and paint it. You can't even tell it's vinyl unless you look really closely. The vinyl is holding up surprisingly well also. |

Yeah, screw the dremel! I cut mine with a plasma cutter and then just took the air grinder to it. |
