any body got a idea how to gear the bike for daytona. i got a xb9r. |

James, You might try 22F 45R, but bring a couple bigger rears if you end up not pulling the revs down the straight. But Daytona is a tricky place to gear for. Reason is that the Back straight might be getting head winds while the Front/Start/Finish would have tail winds, so it's a tough call, you need the low gears to get down the back straight through the wind, but on the Front you also need the MPH so you can draft someone to the line with the wind at your back. The crummy part is the next day the wind could change, and then you have to gear down, and use the gearing to pull you into start/finish. But that's the clincher...you only need to make sure that's where you don't run out of gearing. See you there, Greg |
