This is the 2nd time the little wire bracket that keeps the clutch cable from touching the header. If you look at your clutch cable around where the front motor mount is at you can see it. The lower part of the bracket is what's broke twice now on mine. My clutch cable it still the original (25,000 miles on it). Now, I have a theory. When you adjust your clutch cable to tighten it up a bit it would lengthen the length of the cable. I'm wondering if it's been done enough to where it would begin to put pressure on that area? Any help or insite on how to prevent this from happening a 3rd time would be helpful. |

I just replaced my clutch cable and intentionally left that piece off. It wouldn't seem to thread into the cases easily with that on. My reasoning is I would rather find another way to tie up the bracket than re-thread the engine case! That's my story. I heard Sun/Mon is supposed to be the coldest of the year down there. NUTS |

ryan, it happened to me also. after the 2nd one broke i just use the top half of it. seems to work just fine. although the 03 xb had a different bracket to hold it in place. brian |
