I put the stock air box back together on my new used 2001 S3T. The previous owner had cut up the snorkel and lost a few pieces which I had to replace. My question: The air temperature sensor on my bike is mounted on the backing plate to the left of the snorkel but the service manual shows it located in the snorkel. So where does it belong? The bike is a very early 2001 model year build. Thanks, Mark |

if the snorkel is the same as the X1 you will find a hole on the "inside" ( motor side ) ( or top) where the temp sensor tip snaps in there is then a groumet further down the cable that fits in the back plate hole. the little "bulb" goes into the air flow I hope that this helps. |

What Oldog said...I just went out and looked at my snorkel (My snorkel lives in the toolbox, not on the bike) and the grommet he was referring to (on mine) is on top, right next to where the snorkel would enter the air-filter box. My sensor is taped to the back of my airbox as it is gutted...I think the important thing is that the bulb is IN the airflow. (I think) (Message edited by essthreetee on February 10, 2006) |
