I seemingly never have encountered any references to the Performance Machine wheels that came on the X1.Does anyone have any hard numbers/years etc.? I'm not gloating that MY old X1 has them, just that i never see any others.Too bad Buell now prefers to source them from the Chinese instead of some great American brothers. How are yours holding up? I polish mine once or twice a year and are good as new.. |

Mine weren't optional. They're holding up well, after 15 years. |

Lafayette said: "The lightest are Marchesini ... Then Castalloy, came on my 97S3T .. THE most HEAVY are Performance Machine(PM)..." weird....is that a fact? The 3 spoke PMs' are the heaviest of all factory provided? Who manufactured the "castalloys"? I've always been of the impression that forged was also lighter than cast...Hmmmmmmm... |

I also have the "non-optional" 4 spoke units on my ancient/obsolete pre-popular version of Buell's finest, and I like 'em just fine. Polishing them every year or so is highly therapeutic. Mother's Aluminum Polish is a godsend. Although, now that I hear that they are so heavy, I'm a little skittish about being seen in public with them. The embarassment could be devastating. I can hear it now - "Nice shiney wheels, Bro - too bad they're so heavy. How to you manage to ride that thing like that?" I'll just have to have my snappy "yea, but they're not Chinese" answer ready to ward off the possible social ostracising that could ensue. AL |

After 15 years, I wonder how much weight I've polished off them? |

Marchesini: Front - 10 lbs. 8 oz. - 3.5 in. Rear - 14 lbs. 15.0 oz. - 5.0 in. Castalloy: Front - 10 lbs. 15 oz. - 3.5 in. Rear - 15 lbs. 10.5 oz. - 5.0 in. Performance Machine: Front - 12 lbs. 0.0 oz. - 3.5 in Rear - 15 lbs 6.5 oz. - 5.5 in. Looks like something I prepared for Battle2Win in a former life. Rich: I'll trade you a set of brand spanking new Buell wheels for that aging rattle trap of a thing you call a motorcycle. . . do it dude...bail before it's worthless. C'mon. . . . Can't wait to see you in Daytona! |

They say a picture is worth a thousand words... I wonder if this thread will get archived as 'the' thread for tuber wheel weights as this is *only* the third time they've been posted in this thread. Boy, I sure do miss Battle2Win... 1313 |

I love the PM's. I will take a slight weight penalty for the sweet look of the PM's any day. In my opinion no other wheel looks as cool on a Tuber! Hodakaguy 96 S1 |

Yes CJ, they can and look pretty good. American Sport Bike offers a polishing service if you don't plan to do it yourself. -Mike (Message edited by littlebuggles on February 12, 2006) |

i've got pm's on my x1. and I actuall think the regualar rims look better. less material and they just blend in. The pms rims are just big and fat looking. just my .02 |

My X1 has Pm's on it other than polishing them they are wonderful. they are not that heavy and nice and sturdy as they are "billet" I prefer the polished metal over the nuke blue that the cast alloy / marchesini wheels would have been finished, How many 3 spoke varients of the pm's were produced? |
