>>>>What an awesome time this is going to be.

Yeah. . well let me share something with you. I think I've said this before. . . stop me if I'm repeating myself, but I don't think you've seen the tip of the iceberg.

NASCAR folks know it, snowboarders know it and PonyOwnies know it. . . nothing stirs the hearts and souls of American boys and girls like a couple machines lined up next to one another racing.

This is going to be BIG.

Let's recap and review a couple things.

FRIDAY NIGHT - Gathering of the masses at Nick's. getting to know and tolerate one another and general excitement crescendo commencement time.

SATURDAY - We'll be gathering in a spot to soon be named. There'll be a number of surprises. . . more on that Friday. Folks in cars will all be required to stop and pick up 2 dozen donuts per car and some of those boxes of coffee. We'll be using local intel here. Nick and I will be visiting tomorrow and we'll get this one locked down. I need names of local volunteers. If you are in the area and can help, please let Nick know.

RACE TIME - I need help here. We can all go in together and I'm going to leave it up to DAVE GESS to entertain the "where do the Buell Faithful sit" discussion. He'll have data for me by next Saturday when Nick and I start communicating details.

SATURDAY NIGHT - This gets good and the Buell folks gather to celebrate. I have no idea, at this time the scope of what we are celebrating, but I see it this way it starts with awesome and holds the promise of getting better. If each Buell sputters to a dead freeze at the line....and I get to see a big bunch of Buell friends....it's a celebration.

While we're on Saturday night and the BUELL-B-Q gathering, I'm tossing out the idea ( and if someone wants to champion this...cool) that we do something, no matter how silly, for Nick's neighbors. Cards, flowers, chocolates . . . .nothing big....but something that says THANK YOU. I'll say it again, I think you have no idea what you're into here.

And yes. . . Dave Gess went and shot his mouth off. He and I are committed to doing a marathon "Remind me to tell you . . . " session. We are easy to tell apart. I am the young, quiet one without the gray hair.

: )

I acknowledge receipt and am considering brining in a special guest to do "why the hell is Parkway Blue PURPLE?" I'm not sure if that one will come up. . . but just in case.

Has anyone contacted Capt. Pete about the music?

FMJH: Check with Woz. . . we'll be needing our flags!

I may need to think about bringing in "Little Cat X". Many of you know that Badweb and TEAM ELVES have a sterling reputation for pulling off pretty impressive gatherings with a great safety record. "Little Cat X", over the years, has become the top-cat at laying down the Buell Party Rules of Engagement. More on that later.

Bottom line is that many good things are happening. PLEASE get you name to STEVE HAYNES and get it on the spreadsheet. I'd suggest, if you haven't already, that you may include emergency contact name and info. It's easy to put in and, well the Boy Scouts among us like the idea of a common repository of data for all the folks we can gather. TEAM ELVES rules apply...at the end of the event, we sell the personal info to sextracker. (we burn it once all are safely home)

This is going to be a lot of fun. I think Buell has some surprises up their sleeve while folks are hemming and hawing over moot issues and the physics of brakes, smart kids are getting ready to do battle.

How cool is this?

I'm looking to get my ticket in advance. Is there a particular ticket I need to be looking at purchasing? I was looking at the Adv Infield/Grandstand for $40. Anyone have any recomendations? Thank You

I'm looking forward to it too. Count me in for most everything. Unfortunately time is short this year and g/f and I will be flying in on Friday, and DRIVING...Arrrrgh! ...but, should have tons of room for donuts!!! We are staying in a Holiday Inn between Orlando and Sanford. Now what did I do with those hotel details...
Frank did offer his X1. I appreciate that but, don't feel comfortable 'borrowing', so driving it will be.

Right on guys. Please make sure this info is broadcast far and wide. Me and the little guy, my personal bodyguard, will be leaving NC on the Friday before the race,,,,so we'll be shooting in the dark as far as meeting up with ya'll -- we will be there regardless, but we'd love to hook up with some like minded Buellers.

Advise.

Court, Blake, and all. What an awesome meeting this is shaping up to be! Unfortunately, as I posted elsewhere, I will be over to Florida exactly one month too late for a vacation. So, you'll just have to manage without me. But I'll be glued to this place over that weekend to see what's going on.

Court and all, I have been assigned to figure out where to sit and I have to admit to having no idea. I have been to Daytona twice, once I sat in the grandstand and once I had a media pass so I really have on idea what the drill is.

Anyone out there with vast experience?

Can we show up on Saturday morning and buy a seat in the grandstand and an infield pass? Can we then wander about the pits and then meet up at our seats?

If we can do that then I suggest we meet outside a ticket window and buy a bunch of tickets together.

I don't think you need to buy in advance.

Vegas,

Out of curiosity,,,,,you wouldn't happen to have your home networked, wired/wireless, would you?

Just curiosity,,,,we could, potentially *share* a near live experience with all the BadWeb'ers that can't attend.

Trying to plan just a bit,,,,

I recommend we don't buy tickets in advance. There'll be plenty of tickets available, and if desired, we can purchase a block of them as a group. As far as pit passes, that I don't know.
Now if it rains that day, I doubt I'll be sitting in the stands.

bigdaddy: Sadly we are on DSL right now. That is a great idea though.

Lafayette and I are meeting tomorrow to see if we can find a rally point for everyone to meet and ride to the track together. Court suggested parking near/at the Buell Demo trailer as long as it wasn't a 2 mile hike into the track. anyone have a parking location for the Demo fleet yet?

also guys, I know there were others that had planned group rides during the week. Please speak up and add your ride info here. This is going to be OUR week!

Court: email sent to Volusia County SD today. Awaiting an answer. Also, I am working on a mailer to all of my neighbors to let them be better informed about dates/time/happenings. I thought that would be a nice touch on top of saying hello in person.

The stands just outside of where the first turn into the infield is the best place for spectating, unless you know somebody Important who can get you into the press area (where the Friday night dinner was in 1999). You can see almost all of the track, and you get a good view of pit road. You want to sit as high as possible for the best view. A bonus is that it's the cheapest ticket. Seating is not reserved, so I'd advise getting there fairly early.
If you've never been to the Speedway, you're going to be blown away by it.

Crusty has the best idea for the infield. Its the corner where the racers can look and see the fans as they come out of the corner. And its not far from the garage area. We could get some Buell banners(hopefully) and hold them up for the riders to see us supporting them! Maybe some Buell flags to block off an area for the Buells to park?
Don't forget the flags of the various Buell racers countries as well. A Badweb banner? Blake?

I had no luck in getting a block of seats set aside for us. We'd have to prepurchase in order to do that. May be best to all just meet up and enter the track early to claim our seats in the area Mr. Crusty mentions above. The track opens to spectators at 6AM on Saturday morning, at least the tunnel to the infield is open at that time. The ticket office and grandstand seating may not be open until 8AM. The information is sparse on ticketing and related info at this point at the Daytona Speedway folks are in full tilt Daytona 500 mode. Can't blame them. This according to the folks in the ticket office at Daytona International Speedway.

They do have some package deals for various combinations of tickets. Ticketing/pricing info follows the racing schedule below.

Looks like we could all buy a General Admission grandstand and a fan zone ticket and then pick a spot to meet up at to watch the race.

There will be plenty of seats in the grandstand to choose from.

I didn't make myself clear; I apologize. The place I'm talking about is not in the infield, it's in the main grandstands outside the first turn. From the infield, you can only see a very small part of the track. You do get closer to the track itself, but you have a very limited view of the race; you only see one or two turns at best, and none of the chicane, banking or front straight. And, if it should be a photo finish, you can't see the finish line, either. Many people like to watch from the infield, but you really can't see a whole lot from there.

Crusty- I was there in Oct. and watched the races I could from those infield stands, with the new infield section you see alot. And we can park our bikes close, plus walk to the garage area.
If you sit in the stands, you have a long walk or tram ride, plus our bikes are all over.
Just my thoughts, I may have the r/v in the infield if things work out.

Not that I think I'm going to make it down this year, but I suggest the infield as well. Had a friends bike disappear from the parking lot on the outside of the track. Park bikes in infield all in one area. Many of the marques do the same.
Have a great time guys.

Not sure there will be any bleachers or grandstands in the infield this year. The ticket office couldn't tell me; actually they told me there wouldn't be any, but I'm not sure they know for sure. Anyone know for sure?

Just noticed that the Supercross race doesn't start until 10 p.m. on Friday. Good grief, why so darn late? Anyone planning to see it? I was, but the late time is causing me to have second thoughts. Will definitely do the dirt track races though. Am planning on the Supersport and Superstock races on Thursday too. Anyone else? Nick?

Cheers all. Am really looking forward to it.

I'll be attending the Short Track National on Thursday night and possibly the Hot Shoe race on wednesday night if I get in early enough. The nice thing about the Short Track is that the pits are open to race fans for an hour or two before the races start, so you can see both the racers and their bikes up close.
I plan on seeing the the roadraces on Thursday and , of course, Saturday.
Perhaps the 10:00 time for the Supercross is the time of the start of the Main Event?
