Ok I know I'm flogging a dead horse here, and I already went to this greatly detailed thread

But I'm in the middle of changing out my stock bars for Azonic CR's and I'm not sure if my 03 XB9S has any nubs of any sort on my stock bars. I am also wondering if anyone was able to use city hand guards after a conversion?

By "nubs" you mean the plastic tabs that keep the controls from rotating? You can use the handguards. You will have to modify the end caps that the handguards snap into so they will fit into the end of the bar. It is smaller than the stock bars. It also puts the guards at a slightly different angle than stock because of the flatness and no pullback of the bars.

There are nubs on the handle bar controls: the throttle and the signal/horn switch on the clutch side.
Some brothers just file the nubs down to compensate for the fact that there are no holes in the Azonics.

Another more workman like approach is to fit the bars to bike, then put some masking tape on the bars where the controls go.
Put the controls on where you would like them, and then press them into the tape. Now you have the points to drill the location holes marked on the tape.
BTW, many members have shortened the bars by one inch on each side.

The Azonics are an improvement over the stock bars, and they are inexpensive and light. However, many riders tire of their lack of pullback, as it puts stress on the arms and back that are not helpful for street riding.

Alternatives, albeit at a much higher price that have found favor with several brothers are the Crossroads low bars available from American Sport Bike, and the Laverda Clubmans bars, as fitted to my bicycle.

Thanks for the info Guys, I ended up just trying to get things lined up good and hope for the best. I decided that I was going to only cut off 1" from each side and not chance messing anything up.

Man it was close, but they came out pretty good. I need to gnaw my city Hand guard ends a little but I think they will be ok.

I will let you know how it looks when all said and done.

Rain, you might want to spend a good half hour in the hardware aisle dreaming something better up. I hate having to "gnaw" the bar ends and then beat them in with a hammer only to have them fall out. That's just my experience though. NUTS

I just installed my Moose Racing CR Lows this weekend. Make sure you check throttle return at full lock right and left. I have to look at the throttle cable routing, sticks at full left lock. I didn't cut anything off of the end of mine so maybe you wont have that issue.
