Two days ago I took my '05 XB12R out for a twenty five minute cruise with my neighbor through some local twisties. It was right after work and everyone was trying to get home so we drove at a very slow pace. We hit the highway on the way back to town which allows for 70-80mph cruising. We came to a stop at the stoplight on the off ramp and when the light turned green my bike stalled. I quickly re-fired and got her going. I could feel a total loss of power on the low end. Today I decided to go for a short ride to see if I could figure out what is going on. I gave the bike the usual warm up and took off. I immediately noticed the power, or really the lack there of. I would have to wind the throttle to at least 3Krpm to get the bike moving. Decided I that I should return before I do any damage and came home. A couple things to note. I have the full factory race kit. I recently took the bike in for the first scheduled oil change/check-up. It ran like a champ before and after the service, it ran semi-good. I'm no mechanic and I took the difference as new oil/temp/whatever. Is it possible that I'm having the classic TPS issues? Any help would be great. I'm going to start searching the tech threads in a minute. Thanks, Jak |

Ran fine before server and not so fine after. Probably the tech screwed up your TPS reset. What get's me is how long was it since you had this done to when this happened. Did you ride your bike between these times with no problems? |

A quick check on the Digital Technician at the dealer should point out the offending part. My bet is it's the engine temp sensor but I t could also be the TPS or the O2 sensor. ... Terry |

I had that same problem. Buelldyno_guy has it dead on. Hey Terry, I never got a response (e-mail) from you if you can come to ASBN. Can you? Can you talk about the new bike? Really need you there, hope you can make it. |

Jon, yes I will be there and I sent you another message. ... Sorry Jk, all Buell ECM's used on the street have a closed loop and require an 02 sensor. ... Terry |

Thanks guys. Now what should I expect from my dealer as far as taking care of the problem? Should this all be warranty work or dealership cost? Just curious. |

If it's an 05 then you should be under warranty still. So yeah, I would warranty it. |

Sounds similar to the problems I had. I had changed out the spark plug wires and engine temp sensor and it was fine after. I did the change myself and I am by no means a mechanic. |

are both plugs wires intact and connected? check for spark on both plugs... eliminate the simple stuff first. |

i would definately say its the spark plugs or wires. when i picked my s up, it was running on 1 cylinder. it rode exactly the way you are talking about. i put new plugs in it, and it was perfect. you could have either fouled out one of your plugs, or the wires could have come loose. that might be something you would want to look into. its really easy to do. if you dont know how, just send me an email and i will help you out all that i can. |
