Trying to work a deal to trade a "project" bike of mine for a 04 XB12S. Anything I need to know about a 04? Can I update it with the new drive belt? I would rather have a 12ss due to my size 6'2" but cant seem to notice a huge difference when sitting on them at the dealer over a 12s. Thanks |

Anything I need to know about a 04? How to ride. Can I update it with the new drive belt? If you mean the new life-time belt, the answer would be yes. |

I am 6'3" and love my 04 Lightning. I wouldn't pay the premium just for the longer wheelbase. The new clutch and transmission though??? I love people asking me "what size is that thing a 600?" Then I hit the start button and the DRUMMER roars as I scream "TWELVEHUNDREDBUDDY!"NUTS |

Chris, I also have a 04xb12s and it is an incredible bike. I am getting close to 7,000 miles on it, and no problems at all. One thing that I would recommend because of your height would be to change out the seat for a xb9 city cross stock seat because it doesn't have the step in it. My brother did this on his 04xb12s and it made a world of difference for him because the step was where he wanted his butt to go. He did not notice this at first but after riding the bike a while it was a problem. I rode the 06 and did not find much of a difference in the transmission. In was a tad smoother but not worth an upgrade to a new bike for me. Their are great deals out there on used 2004 xb12s.(check ebay for prices)Good luck! |

Love my '04 12S. I'm 6'3" and have the Streetfighter seat, 0' Crossroads bars, Traction pegs (12R position) and the ergonomics are perfect for me. |

I think they changed the belt in 04 from the weaker ones they ran in 03. |

I have an 04 XB12S and I recommend a few of the changes I made. The Buell "Select" seat, CRG Bar end mirrors with the adaptors, The MRC clutch pull reduction kit and the factory race kit. I have had no problems with anything in 5600 miles last year. When my belt breaks or becomes warn I will upgrade to the new one but why fool with it ahead of that? I love this bike and the way it is set-up. The only upgrade I might do differently is try the new Ti Max full system instead of the factory race set-up, but Im sure that it costs three times as much and would void my warentee. |

I have an 04 12S and the 06 12X, and I find myself taking the S out more, I just love that thing, its fast, easy around town, and the funny looks I get are all the more fun it is to put around on! |
