Mike, that's Jeremy Kyle. He host's one of those sad early morning TV shows where tragedy isn't far away from the average family, just waiting to spoil your breakfast.

Deb, a skirt suits you better I'm sure. Shows off that fine artwork of yours. Never mind those sexy legs!!!

Alright then... Looks like about $300 for the plane ticket. Any idea how much 50 miles of cab fare runs in those parts? Is there maybe a shuttle that runs from Orlando international to somewhere in Deltona near Nick's pad?

Let me know what day and time Don. I am taking some major vacation time that week. I am picking up one of the FUSA riders at OIA already, I wouldn't mind picking you up. (I promise to bring Sammie's truck and not make you ride on the back of the XB)

Hey Tim: Just shoot me an email at:
vegas_bueller@yahoo.com

Let me know if you are coming to Saturdays BBQ, Fridays BBQ, or will need a place to crash, etc.

See ya there!

Jim: have you seen a TV listing for it yet? Do you know if we can buy recordings at the track after the race?

I agree we Buellers need to make a statement this Bike Week. We need to show up together in force at the track, and at various locations throughout the week. Wear your Buell apparel - I sure will.
Nick, there aren't enough words to express the gratitude we all owe you for your selfless contributions to this event. I definitely look forward to your BBQs. I think I speak for all the Buellers - anything you need, just ask.
And as far as getting the Harley crowd interested in the 200 - I seriously doubt they're gonna give a rat's a$$. If it doesn't have acres of chrome, they're not interested. I'll bet the vast majority of them don't even know what the Daytona 200 is. Given a choice between attending the race or posing on their chrome-laden slugs on Main Street, I have no doubt 99.99% of the Harley crowd will choose the latter.
Looks like we Buellers are on our own.

That's an inaccurate statement.

Harley-Davidson has an incredible racing heritage; the motorcycle was, from the day it was born, raced in every type of competition imaginable. Every Harley-Davidson book ever written devotes some of its most passionate chapters to Harley's racing heritage.

There are time to tout the "we're Buell, not Harley-Davidson" In fact, I'd call myself an expert at that . . . but this is not one of them. Without the Harley-Davidson folks, and their numbers, Buell racing would last about as long as a fart before a fan.

Daytona is entertainment. No different than Tommy Casto or Scores nightclub. Each and every attendee will spend, at the race and around town, $$$. More, my dear red-blooded American friend is better.

We MUST beat the drum and get the word out. You are partially correct in that we can not rely on the HD crowd to spread the word. BUT.....anyone who has watched a VR-1000 or a Britten round the turn onto the front straight knows the raw excitement an Air cooled V-Twin stirs up.

I want the AMA to look at Buell and be impressed, it's that simple. The lifeblood of Buell racing depends on it.

And, while on the subject, thanks to you guys there were over 50 Harley-Davidson dealers contacted, and in a very positive way, yesterday. I'll try to get your goodie packages on the way by the end of the week. Anyone else wants to play, just remember every little bit helps.

Also, whilst I'm on this, the BUELL crowds are showing all the signs of breaking records. Last Thursday I got 107 e-mails. Yesterday I heard from 7 folks who'd been on the fence and took the "oh what the heck" route and popped for tickets yesterday.

In fact, on Sunday, the wife of a good friend contacted my wife with the "what the heck, if you're going I'll go" so you know he and I will be on our BEST behavior!

The XBRR (Remind me to tell you later) has already (in fact, last Thursday) done some fascinating things at Daytona. This is damn sure not an "untested" motorcycle and my bet is that all fans of AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE RACING are in for a huge treat.

I never questioned the devotion of Harley-Davidson to racing, past or present. The current XBRR and the new Destroyer are proof of that. And I have seen the XR-1000 in action. I had pit passes to the '97 Daytona 200, so I was literally feet away from the race bikes. The XR was awesome! You could tell when that bike was coming around a corner, it made such a distinctive, loud roar. With the XBRR we'll be in for a visual and audible treat this March, I assure you.
I also salute the actions of Buellers who are contacting H-D dealerships encouraging participation. Keep at it, I say.
I also agree that the XBRR has stirred up the Buell masses like no other bike before.

I do question your assumption that the Buell racing effort wouldn't be possible without the Harley masses. How did cruiser buyers cause the XBRR to come into existence? No, my friend, it was all about the dedication of Buell and his staff (with financial backing from H-D, I assume).

I still stand by my assertion - the vast majority of H-D cruiser riders have zero interest in the Daytona 200. I wish it were otherwise. Possibly there will be some to cheer on Buell, but I'm guessing that it will be a very small group, far less than the Bueller hordes.
That being said, it does nothing to lessen my enthusiasm for the upcoming race. I'm sure all of you feel the same.

"chrome laden slugs"

Haha, hehe... I like riding my "chrome laden slug" Springer Classic. Care free ride and I don't worry about getting tickets. Other time if I wanna go fast and corner hard, I ride my 'bolt. Don't knock it till you've tried it. Variety is the spice of life.

I fully agree with THAT!...EVERY bike has it's place , just because I love and appreciate Buells doesn't mean I've lost my appreciation for other types of bikes...in fact , not to knock Japanese bikes but if I want to cruise I prefer a Harley over most Metric cruisers and still keep one in my Garage!..along with an Aprilia,2 Buells,a Honda,BSA,Simplex and a Suzuki....Life is toooooo short to abandon your options so don't neglect all that other fun just for an ill-conceived opinion....TRY THEM ALL and as Tbear would say....the short, the fat,the skinny and the TALL!!

Well, my XB9R is my 11th bike. Four of the previous ones were "chrome-laden slug" cruisers.
I agree, variety can be fun.

OK, I've hijacked this post waaaay too much.
So, what's everybody doing for Bike Week?

It's rudimentary. . . racing costs money, lots of money. If you don't have, at least, a $1,000,000 PR budget you are "minor league.

When I bought my first Buell that would have worked out to about $200,000 per Buell sold and would have gone over about as well as that eras race efforts.

Times have changed and, for the first time in Buell history, a BUSINESS CASE can be made for anting up the funding. A key element of that case is the appeal to HD owners.

My bike was the runner up in the Buell ride in show at Daytona. There were 4 Buells in the show and less than a dozen Buell owners there.

Times have changed.

This is going to be one of the most exciting Buell events I've seen in years. Turn out expectations rise by the day and I am getting e-mails from local folks who've decided to make the plunge, some of the KC crew and we are now looking at more folks from Europe.

Very exciting stuff.

There will be a plan, Elves are at work on it, for all Buell folks to meet at a pre-dtermined location on Saturday morning and head into the track to sit together.

This is going to be the best birthday Paul-in-Oz could hope for!

: )

Court, does this mean we should wait to buy tickets and buy them "in mass" on race day so we can cheer together?

M1 - My wife & I are staying here: Palms Island Resort & Marina, Sanford, FL (800)290-1910. It looks a bit crummy but its 12 miles from Vegas's house and maybe 40 miles to Daytona. We will be flying into DAB Friday morning. Sanford is located between Orlando and Daytona. I have rented a car too.

I have assigned folks to do some ciphering and checking to confirm race times and ticket sales.

I expect info within the next day or so and will have one of the Florida Elves report.

Let's set a date of this Friday night to have "the plan" in place for how we'll acquire tickets and gain entry together.

I have this vision of a couple hundred Buells....WFO....heading toward the gate at warp speed with the sound of "nothing's gonna stop us now" echoing from loudspeakers mounted on hovering copters....

Nah......

Hmm... so if I get a room at that resort I get to hang out with Court and Steve for the duration of the weekend and all invites for Court or Steve to go to normally restricted areas include me? Thanks guys : ). I still think I might want to just sneak onto the track the night before the big race and sleep on the finish line though. That's gotta be worth some good mojo for the Buells : ).

Count me in : ).

Van: I think LaFayette is working on some events before then. I thought about catching some of the Flat Track action on Wednesday if anyone is going to be in town then.

Court: Just name the place!!
As far as the hotel, like I told Jersey, I pass by that place every day almost on the way to work. It isn't "that bad". It is on the water front, and they have been revamping that part of town with added lighting, walking paths, etc.

Just the sound of hundreds of AMERICAN made V twins, be them Buell or HD's gives me goosebumps! Agreed that it can only be compared with the sound of a flight of Huey's on the way to an LZ!

Jersey: Have you thought of finding someone that is towing down and sending you bike out ahead of you? You could have it drop shipped to the house if you wanted to.

That's the ticket. I am in if you can find somebody to get it down there. I will seeing if anybody I know is going down and see if I can work something out. If I can find room for yours I will let you know.

P.S. How many bikes can fit in the trailor?
Will it fit the following bikes?
