Hi Guys, I am considering to buy a XB12R (or S ) in the US. Because of the fact I am living in the Netherlands, shipping obviously is for now the bottleneck... I am interested in contacts or companies who ship to Rotterdam or Antwerp. From there I can pick it up by myself. Also boxing the bike etc. who is responsible for that? Buyer, seller or shipping company? And the costs are also nice to know.. Thanks! |

Wouldn't it be cheaper and less of a hassle to buy from one of these dealers? You will want to check with your local vehicle enforcement. (dont know what they call it over there) Here its the DOT. And see what you are going to have to do to get the bike legal and licensed in your country. Good chance that it will become an expensive venture, and would be better off buying a bike pre-destined for your country. Just as a note, US dealers are not allowed to sell vehicles out of our country. |

Rob, if you can't bring in a new Buell you might want to import a used one- they sell for a lot less in North America than they do in Europe. In fact, you might want to bring a whole container of Buells to Europe- you could turn a tidy profit selling them and save them from the choppers in the U.S. that bastardize them! |

...one more thing in order to export a self propelled vehicle from the USA you will need to present the title or bill of sale to US Customs upon delivery to the port / warehouse. Customs will need 72 hours to determine that the vehicle is not stolen. I think Lufthansa is the only airline with motorcycle pallets. The cheapest way to ship is with a container consolidator, but you will want to have them "package" the bike to prevent damage. |

Ok, thanks for your reactions.. To be clear: I have already a Buell, and imported in from Germany, where taxes are already half of the taxes in the Netherlands. This customized XB9R will be sold. Now I want to start up a new Buell customizing project and that's why I want a slightly damaged XB12. An R would be best. Frame dents etc. are no issue. To import the bike into the NL, that's a piece of cake. What's new for me is the bike being boxed in the US and send through customs to the shipping address to be shipped. I know US dealers are not allowed to sell NEW bikes outside their territory. The only thing I need are contact adresses who ship the bike to me. I will buy the thing on eBay and the rest they have to handle. Maybe people on this site want to box it up for me and send it to customs and from there to the NL. If you once have done the trick, then it's easy. I sometimes can't believe the bidding on damaged XB's on eBay. They are being sold for 4-6k... |
