a hopeful announcement, involving eating in LA - I'm hoping to get together with some fellow hungry/thirsty Buellers Tue nite/Wed morn. Tho' a SF Bay Area BadWebber, I'm curently marooned in Monrovia overnite, awaiting my car's new waterpump [scheduled completion - Wed noon]. However, right now, 30 minutes W of there, I'm ensconced at an internet cafe - right around the corner from Glendale's quite active Buell dealer. Ernie, their "Buell Specialist" [& race team manager as well], is doing what he can to get me & Sparky & whomever together tonite for eats, drinks, etc. - anybody else wanna join in? Hmmm - by the time you read this, my rental Sentra will've already been parked at Santa Monica's beach, for sea air & sunset. So, guys - please call my cell right now[!] Let's set a time & place for just about any kinda tasty grub. It'll be fun.... [b'fast Wed morning, somewhere along 210 corridor?] Curt cell 408.482.4824 |

Here's a question for the masses: On January 12th, my Great Uncle bought a Harley Dealership in Washington. (WOHOO!) How long should I wait before asking for a sweet deal on a bike?

Patrick: I would wait until January 13th . . .and no later. Why get lost back in queue the behind all his other friends and relatives? YMMV . . .although I am now given reason to go climbing through the family tree to see if I might find a similar opportunity |

Kiwi: Welcome and not to mind the little bit of teasing. The "Is the Buell a Harley-Davidson ?"question will evoke everything from a gentle ribbing to outright call to arms. Buells evoke that type of passion. Erik Buell has a long standing association with Harley-Davidson Motor Co. You can learn much by studying the history posted at www.davegess.com In a nutshell, and there are 17 Chapters before it gets to this point, Buell is a manufacturer of American Made motorcycles and Buell Motorcycles is owned by Harley-Davidson. With each passing year there is more transparency of research and technology between the firms. At the present rate, Buell will have Harley-Davidson fixed by mid 2009. Welcome ! Court Canfield |

Kiwi, The answer from a motorcycling point of view is "no, a Buell motorcycle is not a Harley-Davidson motorcycle." The answer from a corporate/legal point of view may be "yes" in that Buell Motorcycle Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Harley-Davidson Incorporated (HDI) just like Harley-Davidson Motor Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of HDI. Did that help? |

Here is a quote by Steve Anderson : The harley Century: The most important thing to know about Buell motorcycles is this. They are not Harley Davidsons they have never been Harley Davidsons and if Erick Buell and Harley CEO Jeff Bleustein have there way they will never be Harley Davidsons. Does this mean I have to get rid of my Harley jacket. |

>>>>Does this mean I have to get rid of my Harley jacket. Absolutely. You won't be needing it any longer. Any of the Badweb sponsors will help you, in fact they are required my Badweb protocol postulate No. 363b, find a suitable BUELL jacket. Trust me. . . . if you've come this far in the world of Buell, you are ready for the jacket. Tell them I sent you to ensure you pay full price plus about 15%.

Trip, Try using the jacket to tie her up? Court, Try deodorant? RT, Be sure to wash off the armadillo before the women catch you. Bomber, Secure in his ability to defend her from the instiable appetites of men like RT, Peter Egan would visit friends in Tejas and bring his daughter with him. He might use the jacket to tie up RT though. |

I do not recall that, but got over 100 "Buell mails" yesterday . . . calls from 4 countries. . . spent a hour doing "updated parts number searches" and shipping an exhaust. Looks like they are going to make me work on this power plant today and it's school tomorrow...resend and I'll respond as quickly as possible. Court |

Thanks to those who supplied information last month on the Defender S3T. I have one with deep bags. I believe they made 6 with narrow and 6 with deep bags. I will get some pictures up as soon as the weather clears here in Ohio. I have had my gas tank redone three times by Buell no cost but the last time I they could not replace the tank decals. The lights on my bike are Nite-Rider lights that I think are made for bicycle police but look okay on my bike. I rode without them being covered for three years but taped them over for a trip to Canada. Went to the bike show in Cleveland last evening. It reminded me of the first time I saw a Buell at the show. I think it was '95. I coveted the Buell until I rented one in Arizona in '99 (Cruise America rented them for a year) and then bought the Defender a year later because it was the lowest priced one I could find. I feel a little less connected now that the tube frames are gone but the new products are very nicely integrated. Hope some of you get a chance to get to the show if it comes near you. It's great to meet some of the factory people and let them know we appreciate their efforts. |
