What does "Riding for Canada" mean? Pascal would be an excellent choice. |

Too much. I'd be happy with a 95hp version with no fancy bodywork, minimal frills, and around half the cost... |

Considering the '06 R6 is putting 120hp to the ground I'm gonna guess Disalvo's bike will be around 140-150rwhp maybe more. Does the XBRR have what it takes to run with the factory boys from Yamaha up on the high banks of Daytona? We'll have to wait and see! Wish I could go! Got room Paul? |

I got 2 questions 1. Where did they fit the extra 2 1/2 Qt.? 2. Does this mean there will be a "real" race kit coming? |

From the sounds of it you can get all the various parts of the RR from the dealers/Buell. You should be able to pick and choose based on your budget. IE. Exhaust/wheels/carbon body = $5000 and + 10 bHp -10 lbs. Or throttlebodies/Exhaust = $3500 and + 20 bHp. |

soooooooooo cool. this bike is HOT. out of the 50, only 27 spec'd for USA, and the balance for international dealers, primarily Europe and Japan. supposedly sold out today on the dealer show floor already. production will be in april, with delivery being end of april for those that ordered them today. no dealer will have one of these on the floor unless they ordered one (and even then, not til april/may), and those with a rider who can race will get theirs delivered first. hip hop hooray for buell! Some clarifications learned from friendly elves at Up'n Smoke in Keller, Texas yesterday evening. The published 365 LB weight is absent only the fuel and just 15 LBs above the AMA FX class' allowable minimum weight. Don't bet against the folks at Buell carving out another 15 LBs. Hey, the guy sitting accross from Erik at dinner yesterday was a technical sales manager for Advanced Composites Group. The front brake disk is stock XB. Engine will rev to 9 grand, meaning it was proof tested to that level of performance. Pushrods are aluminum metal matrix composite. Kevin Cameron will be reporting more in depth on this interesting new entry into motorcycle racing. Dealy's House of Buell is campaigning a bike at Daytona. Their rider is not yet signed. The XBRR would beat a VR1000 any day. Wanted to use belt final drive, but keeping a wide range of final drive ratio adjustments makes it too difficult. Did I mention the front disk is STOCK XB? It is surprisingly easy to ride and a real blast as well. |

Custom Heads $2000 Custom Cylinders & Pistons $2000 Bore and stroke on cases $3000 Trapdoor Tranny $1500 Attached Frame Sliders $1000 Magnesium wheels $1500 8 piston caliper $500 Chain conversion $2000 High power Low DB exhaust & Header $2000 Updated Oil Pump $500 Factory integration and testing (initial and ongoing)... $Priceless your thinking that this is what it would cost you. But Buell can interchange one 500.00 part for a 700.00 part -- net increase is only 200.00 so those custom heads are just some better valve train and some time on a CNC machine. Cycle Rama would charge how much?? and add in bulk discount cylinder and piston- not sure what they used.. But 2000 is about 1000 more than it should cost. axtell jugs and some nice pistons less than 1300 retail and minus the orginal cost of stock parts. bore and stroke of 3,000 --- no way! remember that Buell starts out with brand new cases not in a bike. 1500.00 for a tranny...? 1,000.00 for frame sliders...? cost of wheels maybe but don't negate the cost of stock parts or buying in bulk 500.00 for a caliper --- more like 250.00 chain conversion--- nothing to convert. the bike was built with a chain not a belt. almost same cost 2,000 for a exhaust.. please how much does a force retail cost? oil pump-- same cost as stock priceless part I agree. But seams like Buell what you to pay for his testing. |

"priceless part I agree. But seams like Buell what you to pay for his testing." What's wrong with that? Shouldn't they test it? And R&D? That's prob. expensive. And Buell wouldn't RETAIL at cost. Maybe they can buy the stuff for the prices you say, but then they RESELL it. To the consumer. At retail. Plus the labor of assembly? A bike is more than the sum of its parts. |

I suspect some upcoming news over the next few months about that oil pump. All manufacturers want you to pay for their testing, development costs are always factored in. |

$31000 IS A BARGAIN. One does not get price breaks on Ohlins suspension components. 50 units of any of the really trick bits will be very expensive. Add in the fact that assembly is done off the assembly line adds another $2000 to the cost. If you hired Cyclerama to build you this bike it would cost you way over $31000. |

31 grand is a Screamin Eagle of a deal! Wait, that ain't right. Wonder how many of these end up in dealers museums and not raced. I'm sure enoughwill get raced to make for an interesting season. Can't wait. |

your thinking that this is what it would cost you. But Buell can interchange one 500.00 part for a 700.00 part -- net increase is only 200.00 Ryker, how about the cost of tooling for those new cases, heads, rockerbox covers, etc... It's certainly not a net cost of $200. Since that $200 most likely went in to development & tooling costs. I don't think much will interchange from the XBRR engine to what's currently in production. It's easy to get a cost estimate. Call up Hals-PA and ask them what it would cost you to build a bike identical to the XBRR. |

My response is a little late but... Yippie! FINALLY! Can't wait for the day when the Buell becomes competitive with the in-lines. Not only is it a leap for Buell but hopefully v-twins in general. |

If you know where to get a full set of Ohlins forks and rear shock for $1500 please, let us all know! You do realize that the Ohlins Superbike forks that are available from Parts Unlimited are $8000. And that dosnt include the custom mount that is probably needed to attach the ZTL caliper. |

The best thing about this bike is the trickle down... most of us mere mortals will only see this bike when we go to the races, but there will some interesting things that will find their way into the Buell street bikes of the future, I'd bet. Note that this is based on the XB12X/XB12Ss frame, not the XB12R frame. But the wheel base is from 51.8 – 53.8 inches. I find it interesting how tall the tail is on this bike. It makes perfect sense, and I've wondered for a long time why the japanese race bikes have been making theirs lower, not taller, for some time. Lower looks sleeker, and sleeker sells on street bikes, I guess. But aerodynamics favor a taller tail that helps the flow stay attached longer off the back of the rider. Note that the pictures on the "development" section of the Buell site show the wind tunnel testing with the old firebolt style tail...think they learned something there? (nah, they already knew it from the RR1000) Olins forks that bolt right up to a firebolt are available and have beenfor a while, I can get them on special order for a lot less than $8000. But they aren't the superbike ones that separate the oil into a separate reservoir. OTOH, the ones on the XB12RR don't look like those Superbike forks either, they look more like the standard Ohlins XB forks. I don't know what's going on inside them, however. Way to go, Buell. Can't wait to see these things campaining this year! |

>>>>>$31000 IS A BARGAIN That is probably just about the cost of goods. Doesn't count NRE and tooling. However, it is a marketing expense. Race on Sunday, sell on Monday. If they come out with a street model of this motor. And why wouldn't they? |

"The best thing about this bike is the trickle down" Yes, Al that's what I'm thinking too. I can't wait for it to trickle into a 25th anniversary Firebolt. |
