The '03 (original) mirror stalks were shorter, and I think that I can safely say that every one of us found them next to useless and bought post '04 mirror sets to replace them. Before you cut them up - I'd suggest that you ask around here to see if anyone still has their old ones so that you have an avenue for reversal instead of ruining yours... |

Good question..... I was think that just the other day, while in the garage take my glaucoma medicine, I chalked it up to the " medicine", but it is'nt such a bad idea. I figure I can get a section of the shaft cut and welded, the only real problem is the rubber cover.HOLD ON A SEC.all this talk about shaft & rubbers requires a disclaimer. for all you broke back mountain fans I'm still talking about the mirrors. anyway.... worst case, you have to cut the rubber cover and gorilla glue the seam back together. If anyone has tried this let us know how/ if it worked out OK. |

That or you could skip the rubbers and go bareback. Yes, I am talking about the mirrors... |

I cut my mirrors down about 3 inches . I then ground just the ends of the shafts down so that a aftermarket mirror head would slide over it. The type of mirror are the ones that slide over the shaft and have a set screw. They come in many shapes and sizes and can be found in most Harley aftermarket catologs such as J&P or Dennis Kirk. Price's range from $10.00 to $20.00, I went with the very small 2 1/2" mirrors mostly for looks. PM Clark Bath NY |
