Splash 06 is going to be upon us and we need info on Where and When. Moto GP dates are July 21-23 and I know many of us are attending. In fact only losers are not doing motoGP Har Har! So, What do we want? I prefer not to have it the weekend before Laguna just for breathing room. I am Totally open for where. Everyones input is vital as this is a group effort. Debbie liked what we had last year. We had even talked of Hood River in the Columbia River Gorge. Packwood? Woodland? ? ? Bob} |

I would like to throw an idea of possibly having everyone at MAC track for SPLASH 06. July 8,9 we are scheduled to race minis at McMinnville. Lots of ride options for everyone with onsite camping with showers (Bob can chime in here) or motels close by. It is located 1 hour from Portland and the same from the Oregon coast. Most of us have ridden around the area or been at the track before. Any thoughts? Mike |

Harv- Staying at Mac track would add about 2 1/2 hours or so overall if we did the same route we usually do on Saturday. As with the past couple of years I would suggest going 35 on Friday when you come down. The best ride for Saturday would be a mid valley/ coastal route for something new. The option of returning to the track mid day for the people that wish to try a mini race bike is open. I will have a Derbi 50 SM available. Practice fee I believe this year is 20 bucks. Food, drink and fire pit to follow. Sunday is race day for us. Harv this is only a suggestion to have you guys down that weekend. IMO it would be a more relaxed weekend than riding all day. What can I say I enjoy your company more than busting my on the road all day. Another idea I have is to stay in The Dalles or Hood River ride over Hood to Ty Valley or ..... Lets hear your thoughts. Bobby, Mike, I am up for whatever. But if we meet at McMinnville, we need to convince Pops to let the Splashers run the track. Been too long away. No weddings planned or other stuff to get in my way this year. There are a ton of super duper technical roads that we could run out of McMinnville up thru St. Helens, but need the Canucks to spend an extra day with us. What say my Canadian Bretren (and sistern)? |

Steve I'm with you on SPLASH 06. If we are going to hang at the track, that’s cool with me as long as we can get affordable and equitable track time. Can you just imagine how pent up we would all feel watching track riders and not participating! As for the plethora of great roads in the area, I say bring them on! You also thought we Canucks would require an extra day. That’s OK with me as I feel the more the merrier, but what where you thinking, Thursday to Sunday, Friday to Monday? Later FunJimmy |

I have mixed thoughts on Splash being on a Race Weekend. For those racing, it is going to be busier than hell and it also takes away from time spent visiting. Hangovers are usually not so great on the track (not that there would be any) Har Har. I guess I'll have to think it through more. I would hope more people would weigh in as the time is drawing closer and things need to be firmed up one way or the other. Bob |

I'm good with an extra day, track time, whatever. I missed last year's SPLASH due to circumstances beyond my control. I need to make up for it. Harv |

Deb,Bob and others I thought we were going to do it the weekend of the 14th. I have already got the 14th off I can see if I can get this changed. I also think that we should stay close to the mountian (Packwood or Woodland). Loni |

I love going out to the Mac track, but would really rather go up to washington. For me, it just wouldnt be splash if we were in McMinville. Besides like jimmy was saying, if we all cant get in some track time it is a bit borring for others in the between times, Unless we all want to run out and by 50cc bikes before splash next year....or if we can get Pops to let us run the buells on the gocart track...LOL As for the dates, well, I already had the time planned off for the regular dates of splash and I didnt get to run the mountain with my new motor last year. So all in all, I guess Im saying, you guys can find Tracie and I at the hotel in Woodland for Splash 06 (rain or shine)If the regular event planners are going to be absent I would be more then willing to step in and help with arrangements or food for either of the days. |

SPLASH is bar none, the best motorcycle event of the year. It's number one for several great reasons, and most of you have met them at one or all of the SPLASH events. Friends first, awesome roads next. Last year at Splash or maybe Border Raid (who can remember), Bob and I where tipping a few wobbly pops and he said, Jimmy we can’t let this die! What we have as a group of motorcycling enthusiasts is so rare and so great, that we owe it to ourselves to ensure it survives the test of time. What ever it takes. We will all look back at these times and forever smile about the friendships we made and the situations we got ourselves into and back out of. Experiences of a lifetime. I really look forward to the routes that you have all worked so hard to provide, and when Super Splash introduced an extended route, I thought I had died and gone to motorcycle heaven. There are undoubtedly many more incredible roads still to discover and I’m all for it. Want to make Splash better; more of the same would do it. I am totally flexible as to the timing of Splash. If it serves the group better at the end of July or in the middle that’s workable with me. Just let me know. Cheers FunJimmy |

Well, I kinda think that Brandon and Loni look like they are committed to doing SPLASH the usual weekend, which isn't an unreasonable expectation. Me, doesn't matter. I couldn't get any vacation in the summer period this year so it'll just be the usual begging for extra time off for me. But if I had had the chance to book time for SPLASH, I would have been committed by now and pissed if I got snookered on it. As to a change of locale, I have to admit I prefer the traditional. I'm a traditionalist in most everything. And the proposal from Mike for the change was based on the date also changing. And I can almost find my way around the course without getting lost. And I'm friends with most of the constabulary now. |

The 14th is good for us. Sorry for the (senior moment) also me speaking for myself. Woodland is great "just cuz I like the floating" So people weigh in ? location, change, go from friday to sunday or if people want till monday? stay one night and move? or just stay in Woodland? And foremost. CAN"T WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE! Deb |

I think we should add a day to the event this year and meet in Woodland on Thurs the 13th. Ride to maybe the coast or ?? on the 14th and do the mountain on the 15th (traditional SPLASH ride). If we stay in Woodland we have lots of options Ocean, Mountian, the lake and park are right there. I would like to see SPLASH stay on the mountian. Shotgun could you come up with a good ride on that Friday to the coast and back, getting back to woodland in time for the BBQ? Loni |

Ok, I'm totally down with the dates on the 14th. This ride is a Tradition that should remain. I think the only thing different should be maybe an expansion of our route to include some of ST Helens not yet discovered tarmac. I'd be glad to pre-explore(No it's no problem) I Love the ride and look forward to it every year no matter where on the mountain we ride. I get to see my friends!!. The lakeside Motel has allways treated us with open arms and are forgiving of our evening activities. (not to many people do) I look forward to seeing everyone and having the typical, One Hell Of A Time. Moto GP is at Laguna the following weekend and we are going. What a busy month but then again, What A Great Life. Bob |

Loni, tons of great roads on the Oregon side of the river from Woodland, would make a super exceptional 10th Anniversary Splash. Didn't Ferris promise us "The Man" on this run??? As for me, tell me when and where and I am there. No weddings (knock wood) to interfere this year. |

I think bobs idea of staying on the mountian is a great idea. Can we agree to meet at the Lakeside on the night of the 13th and do rides the 14th and 15th around the mountian? This will give Bob lots of time to do some pre rides! Heck I would love to do some myself! Shotgun the 10 year is not until next year. We will have to talk and plan something really special during this years gathering. Loni |

FWIW, I took 80hrs vacation the 2nd and 3rd weeks of July for Splash and Laguna (we have to put in our vacation requests by the first of the year). Working a 4-10, so counting my weekends I'll actually be off from the 13th to the 29th. If I have to take the 30th in addition in order to accomodate different Splash dates, then so be it. Planning ahead for Border Raid '06, I also requested time off around the Holiday in September. You've all been warned! |

Bob, I think my plans are Mike and Kimberlie's plans. I assume I'm reprising my role as 'third wheel.' But Mike has to promise we won't test how well the rumble strips work on the highway shoulders. |

Loni, not only am i getting old, i'm getting fat! next thing ya know i'll be getting slow, too!! re: SPLASH's ten-year anniversary, it kinda depends on whether you count Blue Groove/Northwest as the first year, right? BG/NW was in '97, the first SPLASH ride was in '98. so.......is next year the tenth, or is it 2008? inquiring minds wanna know. FB |
