Grimace308, I think Buell was figuring about 1 pound per wheel. |

well dang... 2lbs is a small steak, a medium sized blt sandwich, a proper hamburger and a pretty slick rotating mass weight loss, for fairly cheap. as the pumpkin will never see dirt, it might as well have lighter wheels and conti road attack tires. i wonder if there are even lighter buell style wheels out there? google to the rescue. |

Really worried about that two pounds of unsprung weight, huh, Grimace? Heck, it's still pounds lighter than any other bike of the type. And from what I've read, everybody is raving about the suspension. So why not keep the wheels just in case you do hit a curb? |

Yeah Grimace. If you want to sell your stock wheels let me know. It would come in handy to have a dirt bike wheel set up (with lower geared pulley) for the time when knobbies come out for this beast. One set for the street, one set for the dirt! |

Check eBay. I've seen XB wheels with tires mounted for very reasonable fees. |

im not so much worried about unsprung weight as im thinking out loud. the magic 8-ball has told me that i wont be riding off the road and i always heed the magic 8-balls advice...which is why im 32 single and in a job with no room for upward mobility....hmmm rotating mass is much more important that unsprung weight, imo. $700 wheels and $300 tires leaves this whim by the wayside. i reckon id rather just pay off my insurance for the year, with the money. its probably a good thing as the potholes in minnesota are the size of small lakes elsewhere. sorry, no wheels for sale, chris |

Buell engineers probably beefed up the wheels of the ULY because 1) they needed to be tougher 2) the other XB models probably needed tougher wheels also. |
