I want to better my headlights on my 05 xb12. I do 50% of my riding at times in the dark. Are these part #S the way to go? Is there more to the part # than what I have that I will need when I get them? I think they are a direct replacement bulb. Wich ones would you recommend? PIAA 55w H3 superwhites 55W Sylvainia Thanks (Message edited by sgthigg on January 07, 2006) |

I personally know nothing of the part numbers or which lights to run, but if you can get both lights to stay on while on high beam, you can see better. If you DO find a better light though, let ME know, thanks |

the PIAAA superwhites WILL help.... a little bit. a good choice for the HIGH beam. they dont last very long, you might get 150 hours out of each, makes it a good choice for the high beam, which is presumably used less. The real solution(s) are auxilliary lights, mounted to the forks, or where ever you think they will look the least dorky, and a genuine HID arc lamp for the low beam. the HID will throw about 3 or 4 times the light as any single halogen bulb, and they seem to last a long time. the only down side is they have a seperate ignitor, and ballast unit, so they take a bit of planning and creative mounting. also they must be wired to STAY ON all the time, you dont want to cycle them on and off each time you flick the high beam switch. the HID has another advantage: low heat output, that is it wont melt down the headlight housing, which is plastic. my HID, like most other automotive conversions only runs 35 watts to the bulb, so they make less heat than the stock 55 watt H7 bulb. bought mine out of canada, they supposedly are ILLEGAL in the states. |

Will the Sylvania H3 ST Silverstar work in a 05 XB12SCG? Or does the XB use the H7? (Message edited by sgthigg on January 07, 2006) |

I know the XBS uses the H7 style of bulb, I just put the silverstars in mine and they make a BIG difference in night time riding |

The Firebolt and Lightning use different bulbs. H7 is lightning, including 12Scg. H3 is the Firebolt. |
