Trip meter resets itself when the bike is started. Speedo and odometer are fine. I had to replace a fuse and a taillight bulb with this as well, so mybe there's quite a few gremlins in there. Thanks, Chad. |

If you disconnect the battery, the trip will reset. I am thinking that your battery might be a bit weak or perhaps your terminals are a bit loose. |

Are these batteries sealed? Are there Optima-type batteries for tubers? Bomber, I pulled every one of 'em and they're white and crusty. One of 'ems even bent! I got into the zone, Auto Zone, cause I wanted it and I needed it and they had it or they'd get it... anyway I got new fuses, a new bulb and some monkey grease. Other than that, all wires are intact, no exposure, no cracks. Thanks, Chad. |

I had this happen on my M2 when I blew the fuse to my headlight - the hot wire exiting the headlight shell wore through and shorted out. The only indication in daylight was the tripmeter resetting itself every time I turned the bike off. |

if the fuses are good, and it's still resetting (that is, going to zero when you power down the scoot), then you are loosing power to the speedometer unit (almost typed speedo unit, but caught myself when the image began to form in my head) . . . stock batteries are sealed, and a failing batt can make the odo reset to zero -- if you havn't already done it, clean the fuse terminals and fuse block terminals well, re-instll the right sized fuses, and ger her a try -- if ya have, check the tightness of the battery cables (as Nate suggested) and then start tracing the poser to the speedo |

Chad: I've got nothing to add regarding your electrical problem, but in your profile you state that your favorite roads are between Corpus and LaGrange. Might I respectfully suggest that you consider attending the Ride to the Ranchito outside Brenham in a couple of weekends from now? rt |

OK, I coated the fuses and the taillight bulb with monkey grease. I also took the battery out, put it on the ground, took off all of my clothes (except for my sombrero, of course) and danced around the battery singing Irish folk songs while extremely FUBAR. Oddly enough when I put the battery back in everything worked. Some of you might say that it was the fuses, but I think it was my ode to the battery gods. Thanks for the help, Chad. |

"...took off all of my clothes (except for my sombrero, of course) and danced around the battery singing Irish folk songs while extremely FUBAR." That's pretty weird, dude. I don't do that until I'm sure it's fixed. |

Only Irish folk songs. 100% puro agave Tequila required in massive, life-threatening amounts. "The Red Headed Stranger" must accompany in the background. Listen people, I don't make the rules, I am simply the messenger. |
