Greetings Southern California BRAG members, As discussed at the last meeting at Knollwoods, the January odd month first Sunday ride/meeting will occur next Sunday, January 8th, since the actual first Sunday was the first and a early morning New Years day ride with a potential hangover wasn't thought to be a good idea. The ride destination agreed to at the last meeting was a Motorcycle museum place in 29 Palms that Eric knew of. Eric has the action item to get me some of the details of the place we are meeting there, but he has been out of town for the holidays. I will send out the details for the final destination in a couple days when I get it from him. For now, just plan on an early start from wherever you're leaving from so that we can get there, meet, see the sights, and still have a nice ride back across the mountains to the west before the day gets too late. For those that want to ride from Biggs, we'll meet there at a relatively early time. I'm thinking kickstands up at 8:30 AM from Biggs San Marcos, but until I get the details on the meeting place so I can plan the approximate route, I can't nail down the exact time. So stay tuned for a couple days while I get the specific details figured out. It will be far enough away that I think we're planning on converging there between 11 and noon, but I'll publish the official time after I talk to Eric. More in a couple days, Al |

Here are some more details on the BRAG ride this weekend. Our Destination is not a museum per se as I'd previously indicated, but it is Hutchins Motor Sports, a motorcycle shop that typically has a bunch of old bikes on display in addition to new bikes. The store is an H-D dealer, and also a multi brand dealer. In addition to being a cool dealer, they have an integrated Diner that has great food, so that's where we'll be meeting and having lunch. Here are some details on the place: Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Hutch+Hutchins+Harley+Davidson&sll=34.088350,-116. 518593 Store Web Site: http://www.hutchinshd.com/ Diner info: http://www.hutchinshd.com/miscpage_010.asp After meeting and eating, we'll go into Joshua tree National park for a little bit of sight seeing. I've never been there, Eric says there's some cool things to see there. The area isn't twisty, it's desert straight stuff. After a little while there, we'll head back west. We'll likely climb the always stellar 243 black mountain grade up into Idyllwild, go down the twisty part of 74 to Hemet, and folks will likely split there to start heading home. The folks from SD will head south, the LA and Orange folks will continue west on 74. It is a long days ride. The plan is to try to get to Hutchins no later than 11, but shooting for 10:30, so that we have enough time to do some exploring of Joshua Tree and still have time to do the interesting way back. I will lead the SD group from Biggs, kickstands up at 8:00 AM. Yea, it's early, but days are very short now so we have to get an early start if we don't want to be cold and dark on the way home. Our route up will be through Anza and down the cool 74 grade into Palm Desert. We'll go approximately as shown here to Anza: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=Escondido,+CA&daddr=Anza,+CA&btnG=Se arch but we will stay off 15 and do the funner stuff on the way to Temecula if everyone arrives to Biggs on time. Then after Anza, we'll go approximately as shown here: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=Anza,+CA&daddr=Yucca+Valley,+CA&btnG =Search&ll=33.83392,-116.553955&spn=1.111048,1.985779 Well, ya did buy that thing to RIDE it, right? Eric's email address is eobarrows-at-beckman.com. He knows more about the shop and the area out there than I do, so ping any questions to him. Might not be a bad idea for some of you LA/Orange folks to meet on the way out there somewhere. Anyone that is coming from LA/Orange that wants to meet somewhere, send an email to Eric that says where you're coming from and he'll figure out the best place/time to collect together and come up with the best route there. Well, this one is too far for me. I have to be back relatively early to pick up the wife at airport, so I guess I'll do a local to the Rock Store and explore up that way. Anyone who wants to join is welcome. |

Up to the top! Note new prominent position of the "Southern California" link on the main Storm Fronts page? If you would like a subtitle, let me know. It would show up in small text underneath the existing title. |

ATTN Ebear! Call Mary at Laguna Seca. She has important info for you regarding vehicle passes for the 3 reserved Corkscrew camp sites. Changes for 2006 maybe? I dunno. We saw her at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca booth at the LA Auto Show Saturday. She's all excited about new changes in the track, traffic management and stuff like that. Sounds like fun. Wish July were here already and BRAG had their ticket package available. D&J |

Hey guys, I'm a SF Bay Area BadWebber, curently marooned in Monrovia overnite, awaiting my car's new waterpump [scheduled completion - Wed noon]. I'm suggesting a get-together with some fellow hungry/thirsty Buellers Tue nite/Wed morn. Right now, 30 minutes W of Monrovia, I'm ensconced at an internet cafe - just around the corner from Glendale's quite active Buell dealer. Ernie, their "Buell Specialist" [& race team manager as well], is doing what he can to get me & Sparky & whomever together tonite for dinner & drinks, etc. - anybody else wanna join in? Hmmm - by the time you read this, my rental Sentra'll be parked at Santa Monica's beach, for sea air & sunset. So, guys - please call my cell right now[!] - thanx in advance. Let's set a time & place for just about any kinda tasty grub - it'll be fun.... [tho Tue dinner's likely Westside, I guess b'fast Wed should be somewhere along 10 or 210 corridors.] Curt cell 408.482.4824 |

PMC's ride was purty cuell! Except there weren't any other badwebbers. You guys missed out on some majorly bitchin' twisties separated by mind-numbing straights which was OK being backroads as it were. The route explored a (new to me) low-key way to get to Angeles Forest Hwy and Newcombs Ranch from the Lake Hughes area. For details, you'll have to find out from me in person as I ante'd up the $15 to find out! So, anybody going to the Pitcher House? The line-up: 9:30pm Reventlos 10:30pm Insect Surfers 12:00am Slacktone Saturday, January 28th, 9PM, Pitcher House, Ph: 310.374.0626, 142 Pacific Coast Hwy, Hermosa Beach. Cover, generally $3. Matt from the Reventlos says, quote:An incredible entertainment value!
To borrow a quote from the 'Badweb Moral Compass' persona who frequents this board, "That's an accurate statement." Sparky |
