Since this is a modified stock pipe can it be run with the stock ECM and air filter? Or should it be run with the race kit parts? Thanks, Schmitty |

Really? I got a spec op pipe too. I know that running the spec op pipe alows for more air flow. Leaning the motor a LITTLE (no much) but more towards the leaner end of the ECM Air Fuel mixture parameters. A K&N filter will allow even more air. Moving it even more towards the leaner side. I have heard that these 2 combined with a stock ECM is too lean for the motor. This has always steered me away from adding a K&N to my set up. I am only speaking from what I have heard and not what I have done. I am a little scared of running a new bike too lean because this can be far worse than it running too rich. I don't have a race ECM and have been running Odie's pipe for over a year. The K&N should be fine, but airbox mods will not be necessary. |

Schmitty, go over to the sponsers section and ask Odie, he'll give ya an honest answer. I can't help with your question as I do run and OPS pipe with stock ecm and K@N but I've also got the tfi unit. Kevin |

I've been running an Ops pipe with the stock ECM and stock Filter with airbox modifications including a snorkelectomy. The bike runs great. The pipe is more than worth the $$$$$. Odie is a great guy as well. Ken (Message edited by blasterd on January 04, 2006) |

Schmitty- if you question hasn't been answered drop me an email. Sorry for the delay. House hunting/closing and mortgage companies are getting the best of me right now. Thanks, Odie. |

For those of you running the Specs ops with the Stock ECM on a XB9... Is thee a noticeable gain in low and mid? I am less concerned with top end. Is there more popping than with the stock can? And how much more? |

More of a mid gain than low to me. And yes it does pop on a hard decel, but it sounds bad-a$$. Ken |

Schmitty: I've been running Odies pipe now for a few months. Two weeks after the install I had the bike on the dyno at A.D. Farrow H-D in Columbus, Ohio. The dyno showed absolutely no fuel/air problems. The graph was nearly perfectly on the nominal throughout the entire RPM range. The torque/HP numbers showed 73.56 ft/lbs and 88.6 hp-torque curve nice and flat. I, too, was mildly concerned about a lean situation and I specifically questioned the dyno technician on this. His words to me "Your'e fine-don't change a thing." Odies got a good product-you won't be disappointed. I am running the stock ECM and a K-N filter-05 XB12Scg. |
