I have a deposit on a Uly that comes in January (ships 1/6) It is orange. My dealer just got a black one in and it is in the showroom. Hence the temptation and the decision. Gratification now or in a month. Get it now or wait for the color I originally lusted for. Hmmm......I went for the restraint and will wait on the orange one. But if anybody in the KC area wants one or to at least see and sit on one, Gail's HD/Buell has one on the floor. By the way with my weight on it I can flatfoot it with both feet (yeah) at least with the setting they have it at the dealer. Temptation be damned, I'm waiting on the Orange One! |

Bob, Check the price of a yellow flyscreen and airbox cover? I bet they'd throw it in at a good discount if you pulled the trigger on the black one now. I'm a bastard ain't I? |

Yah...the flyscreen and airbox cover are cheap. And the orange one looks great with an all black seat. |

Or you could always do like TwoBuells and get the Kick Ash Airbox cover... Or get the Barracade Orange flyscreen and the Valencia Orange airbox cover... Oh and that stuff about the Orange ones being faster is a bunch of hooee. Cheers Brett |

Bob, Go for the orange one. It looks like snow this weekend anyway. Besides, if/when we ride somewhere together, people will get to see both colors at once. |

Bob, I saw the black one yesterday. Jimmy wanted to sell it to me. Here's what I would do if I were you. I'd buy the black one. Spend another $283 and get and extra orange airbox cover. Then you would have one bike in two colors. How cool is that? Oh, and then I could buy the orange one when it came in. Paul |

I have an orange one. Like the black better only because of the orange section of the seat. The orange (really looks yellow in some lighting) is a cool color, but that seat is going to get NASTY. The should have put a black seat on all bikes, but I have to say, the orange seat fools people. I've had several people ask, "is THAT the passenger seat" because they think it's plastic. |

Being the pragmatist that I am, (this gets in the way of fun sometimes) I am going to wait until January and get the orange one. The pragmatist part is that in Missouri you only pay property tax on something you own on Jan 1st. If I bought the black one I would owe an extra year of property tax. However, just to prove I really want the orange one, if it was orange they had now I would buy it now. Isn't rationalization great? Orange it is! On another note completely unrelated I just put the new HID Harley light on my Ultra. As soon as I can ride it at night I will report on it. I will be looking to add lights to the new Uly and this will be my first experience with HID. |

BB, the wife and I both preferred orange, but (in much the same position as you) I ended up with a black one. It has "grown" on me and I actually prefer black now...it even goes better with my new cold-weather riding gear! |

Black may not be "as fast" as orange, but it has stealth appeal..... |

OK I'll admit the black bike temptation was becoming strong, I was weakening and then I got up this morning and it's snowing here. No instant gratification of riding it this weekend, saved me from the dark side. Orange one it is in January, at least right now. |

Wise choice "WEED HOPPER". Hey Snub, another orange one is coming out of the gate! Maybe you can buy his seat. |

I just rode my Barricade Orange Uly home from the dealership. After the snow storm last week, and the sleet/freezing rain yesterday, there was lots of salt and sand on the roads. I took all back roads, and managed to get the first 50 miles out of the way. The bike ran well, and felt really good and I can't wait until it's broken in. I had to stop at the car wash and wash all the sand and salt off the bike before I got home; but now my new baby is sitting all clean and happy in my garage. Wait for the Orange, it looks MUCH nicer than the black, IMO. |

OK I am weak. I gave into temptation and bought the Black one at Gail's HD/Buell. I was going to wait on the orange one, but our forecast last weekend and this week is lots of 55+ degree days and I couldn't stand it. Oddly enough Daves posting the pictures of the new Cee Bailey windshield was the final straw. I called Cee Bailey and they said they would not make it in orange, they didn't think they could get the colors right. I knew I would need a taller screen if I was going on long road trips with it. I went in Saturday at 9:30 AM (Gail's was closing at noon) and said if you can deliver it today I'll take the black. They did. It was as if I heard James Earl Jones voice saying "Bob come to the dark side" and I did. So enough confessions. I put 50 miles on it yesterday and changed the oil and filter, and now have about 225 miles. It is awesome. Of the concerns others have here is my take. No headshake at all. The wind is very smooth that hits you in the head and chest. I don't see a problem with the steering lock. In a few situations turning around it might be a problem, but no problem to me. I went on a freshly graveled road today, fine at lower speed. There is no @#%$## way any one on break in keeping it to 55 mph for 500 miles! Interestingly 2 and 1/2 quarts as per the service manual only brought the oil level to a little above the add mark, even after warmed up. I expected about half way from the add to the overfill line. I've never owned a sportbike before and it is kind of weird not to have a gas gauge staring at you. So anyone who wants an orange one there is an extra coming in January. One last thing, Black is Beautiful! |

Welcome to the dark side, may the force be with you! We have a nationwide taxi Co here called yellow cabs that has the same colour yellow, you'd look like a courier on the the "barricade yellow" bike! I don't have a problem with turbulence under the speed limit, over 60mph is another story! |

Black is beautiful. You made the right choice. They make the orange one for near-sighted short guys. It's called 'barricade orange' because the short rider has to stand on a barricade to mount it. Step ladder grey was shot down by the marketing guys. |

The wife preferred orange, but I ended up with black. I actually prefer the black now; good thing. Mostly because of the seat coloring. |

You're not cheating!! Just because you are on a diet doesn't mean you can't read the menu. I would love a ULY too, but I can't bear to part with the Connie. I can't justify another outright purchase at this point. I'll have to save some clams for a few years. This is a good forum with lots of knowledgeable Buellophiles. Good luck. Steve |
