cant see why a XBR could not hit 160 with the proper gearing Physics. Going from 135 to 160 is HUGE in terms of wind resistance! Aint just gearing. - basically the drag goes up with the SQUARE of the velocity. Just going from 135 to 160 (18% speed increase) means a 40% increase in drag. You'd need more streamlining OR more power (or a combination) |

quote: "I listed 160mph as the top speed because that is what my speedo gauge list......I'm stating what the bike lists as it's top speed." WHY ARE YOU ALL LAUGHING? I ALSO THOUGHT IT WHEN I GOT MY FIRST BIKE!! (ok, I was 7yrs old)

I like em around 5' to 5'2" and 95-105lbs please, since we're being specific. At 130lbs and anything under 5'8" that 30 extra pounds is all a$$ and belly. Yuck. |

In 2003 I got my ST3 in the USFRA 130 MPH Club. It took 6 runs to get two above 130MPH. My average speed 131.495 and it felt good to say I had a 130 MPH Bagger. So in 2004 I retuned trying to get into the 150 Club. I now had 99.87 RWHP and 83 ft/lbs of torque and chain drive at the European ratio. My speed on the dyno @ red line was 160+. Back to the Salt first run 135 and some change. I was geared too high and could not pull 4th to red line but shifted and tried to pull 5th on my torque only. That same day Fireman Jim set a new record on his S2 without bodywork of 150 and some change, but he was using a turbo charged 145 HP motor. I packed it up because you are not going to pull 150 plus without bodywork and only 100 hp. My point is that some of these street guys who say they can do 150+ need to come out west and show some of us who have tried. ...Terry |

bah humbug .. destroke it, bore it out, strap on some n20 & some slick fairings .. elongate s/arm (yup, that shd bring in the hatemail) & lay over the front end .. maybe some tassles on the bar ends ( ;P ) ... the thunderbike guys say they get 170mph on the straights .. so it CAN be easily done .. but why?? unless on a track, why take a certain deathrisk?! maybe its only me, but a free breathing, revvy engine & better gearing wld be the ticket, but then again, its a vtr1000 (rc51) or aprilia or 999r ... |

cant see why a XBR could not hit 160 with the proper gearing destroke it, bore it out, strap on some n20 & some slick fairings Last time I checked XBR's don't have slick fairing or "Thunderbike" HP. So until someone spends time and energy trying to get there I don't think they know how "Easy" it is? ... Terry |

oh .. excuse me .. i didn't note that it was stock xb's we were discussing .. so modifying engine & screwing on some fairing aint that hard buddy .. if u have the $$ u have the hp & hence speed .. whatever. & damn if u dont refer to yr bike haveing over stock figures & other making 145mph w/ turbo .. what is this .. one set of rules for yr argument & another for ppl who seem ignorant or threatening to yr thread? normally i am *whatever* abt being put down .. but in yr case, u sir oare out of line, me thinks. |
