once i fix my forks & triples & assuming it passes recertification inspection, & can be registered again & insured, do you think it will be easy enough to sell for say w/ 3900 miles on clock w/ racekit & new pirelli diablos, when new same wld cost + racekit & tires?

i like the bike but have decided its too limited for what i am commiting to now - track training & days, as tho it has awesome grunt & cornering, its a wee bit to asthmatic for hard track work & to spend the $$ to make it hold up on straights seems unreasonable given my financial situation.

there is a used '04 zx-10r nearby for US$9400 w/ only 6000 miles on clock. a steering damper & better tires & this will thrill me - if not do the other thing that rhymes w/ thrill .. thats why i am moving to track, as i am too aggressive on roads.

spare an thoughts?! : )

happy xmas.

I have a friend who has two bikes, depending on if they sold or not, he has an '02 R1 for $4500 it is a track bike from the factory, and he has a 2000 (I think) ZX-9R for 2500 that is for race also.

$8500 for a recert bike!?

No frikin way I'd spend near that much! Maybe would spend around $5k tops.

Also, on a slightly differnet note, if you are just getting into track days and track duty......I really dont think you need a liter bike. If you learn the fast way around the track before you make the bike fast you will ultimately be a better racer/rider.

ZX10R to start with on the track. Too much power, all you learn is " I can't stop this thing" . The Buell you have will teach you more than any ZX10R ever could, if you do want to sell it , then get a 600cc. A race track is about the turns, Entry , apex , exit. Never seen anybody give a ZX10R full throttle in a turn, and walk away from it.

Do what you want, starting with a ZX10 IMHO is not a good idea. I own a 2005 XB12R and a 2005 ZX10R for the street, and I race a 2005 ZX6R 636. If the track has No turns than a ZX10 would be my first choice, otherwise please consider a lower powered bike for the track, you will be happy you did.

Vonsliek, you have mail, the bike checks out and he still has it, his last race day he had a second and a third place finish. It hasn't been down while HE has had it. Runs great and like a top.
