I was washing the bike when my mit got caught under the XB logo on the fly screen and pulled it off halfway. I dried the bike and decided to remove it all the way... ...and then (not thinking) I used Goof Off to remove the sticky part.  Now my beautiful City X fly screen is blemished. I tried turtle wax to buff it out. Any ideas? Many thanks. | ||

NOVUS Plastic Polishes come in 3 grades, and can do a great job when combined witha patience and elbow grease wax won't remove any (or, at least not much) material, which is what you need to do to "remove" a blemish (actually lowering the surrounding material to the bottom of the blemish) -- 3M also makes great stuff, I've heard reported, but I've not used em -- NOVUS does do a great job | ||

Try Novus first, if that doesn't work there's some stuff made by S100 that works very very well also. If all else fails you might be buying a new fly screen. They cost about $70 something. | ||

I third that on using the NOVUS, had belt buckle scratchs on the back of the air box cover and it worked wonders, start with step 2 and then go to step 1....if you need step 3 NOVUS, replace the flyscreen. | ||

Mine started to come off my prior bike on its own....Took the fly screen to the dealer. They put a new one on free of charge and it was good as new! | ||

crg makes them. Americansportbike, Ironmachine, Trojan, Hillbilly-Motors, and of course DaveS at appleton can set you up with a pair. | ||

Mike, the best way to get back the shine of the part is to buff it using a buffer and compound. If you don't have a buffer, any body shop can do it for you for a couple of $. It's a 15 minutes job for somebody with experience in buffing. If you was not located so far from where I live, I'll do it for you but you are kind of very far from Quebec. | ||

Many thanks all. I am going to try the Novus with my orbital buffer and see where that takes me. I'll let you know how it turns out... | ||

I don't use anything special (Harley Sunwash, Harley Shine spray). I just clean it often with a soapy mit. And the CRG levers are fantastic.  |
