Wow. I want to know how it goes with a "real" 44 incher. I had a Blast that had 44 Magnum as a paint job only. Really only a 515 kit and some extras on it. NRHS tells me they never got the 44 incher off the ground because the motor would cost more than the bike. |

Sounds like a wussy excuse to me. Terry ain't no wussy. Not much of an excuse maker neither. A 44"er oughta go better'n half a built 88" XB based engine, so up around 65 to 70 rwhp. That would be some serious fun. |

Thanks you guys, this has been fun. Back in 2003 with a 3,8125 bore and 3.125 ultra short stroke at 597 cc it made 53-hp and 40 ft/lbs of torque. On the salt I hit the rev limiter of 8200 in but could not hold it in 5th gear. Geared too high for the body work. In 2004 just three weeks before Bonneville the shipper dropped the new long stroke engine breaking the case. The 2005 event was canceled due to wet conditions. That gave us time to redo an engine that had never been started. So in 2006 with a new frame and bodywork we will be there to run the under square 650 before we put the big bore in and make it a 730-cc over square monster. If we get all four 650cc push rod records Brian and I have a few ideas about what we want to do with the bike. .. But more than anything this has all be fun and to be able to learn, share and help all you guys has been great. . ... Maybe you can set up a shop, like Steve Saleen, except you work on blasts, and you do it really cheap instead of really expensive? Good Work! Keep it up, and good luck at the flats! |

Brain sent this today and said it will be on the pump by next week. ... It made 53RWHP at 600cc lets see what it will do as a stroked 40 incher. That intake manafold is for a 48 Mikuni ... Terry |

Edward, there's some science in the pipe and I am not too sure how well it would work with a can or on anything on else. But I will give you the one we made to the 600-cc specs. Give me a call at the shop or let me know and I will bring it to American Sport Bike Night. ... Terry PS Even better when I get the engine back come on down to the race shop on a Sat or Sun and help me get it back in the frame. .... TP |

Brian called me twice Tues about the 650cc Stroker. The first time to ask about my SE Ignition Module and the second to tell me he can only get it to rev to 6500 on his engine Dyno with his Twin Tech module. But its at 63-hp and climbing when it runs out of timing and the torque is steady at 50 plus. So when it gets here I will have to rewire the ignition and see what is up. The Crane S/W can be used to reprogram the S/E module and Brian gave me some numbers to work with to develop the best curve. It has another 1000 RPM left and like all his stuff the HP was climbing at a 45 deg angle when it hit the wall. ... Terry |

Our sponsor - Revolution Performance will do it, however, I'm more interested in a 44" the hard way, same stroke and a 4.5" piston - Erik B. said we could offset the cyl. and put on a bigger cyl./piston - the max. I've seen is 4.5" on Racing Sportsters - moving grenades - however, that wouldn't be the case with a Blast because there is no rear cylinder to compensate space for - thus no thin material conflicts with two cylinders trying to fill the same space/area. Then you could have RPMS and power! Brian said he'd do a 4" which would be 650cc - so I figure a 4.5" could also be done - perhaps - I just didn't think about that till after the conversation - lol. Hey EZ, so I figure a 4.5" could also be done - perhaps - I just didn't think about that till after the conversation - lol. Nope. Can't be done with a factory case. In fact, you are up in Pro Mod territory with that piston diameter. The diameters that we spoke of previously are it dude. Thanks! BN |

I'm on another forum and wondering if this guy is full of it. He is claiming 71hp and 71ft lbs of tq at the wheel from his blast. Ive talked to the guys at NRHS, for my turbo build, and they say they've never heard of anyone getting that much HP from a blast even though this guy is using some of there parts to get the supposed 71 HP. http://www.customfighters.com/forums/showthread.ph p?t=24223 |

Here is the supposed dyno sheet. Notice it doesn't list a rpm but lists mph and he claims stock gearing... http://www.customfighters.com/forums/attachment.ph p?attachmentid=9650&d=1251253299 |

Possible, but I've learned not to believe everything on the internet and there are some red flags. But when dyno/HP figures get in the unbelievable range, then it is somewhat unbelievable. He's done the work and the A/F ratio is spot on (which for that kind of HP and carburated no less is very suspect, especially all the way from 35 mph to 100 mph. If it was fuel injected....but its not) I dont know why he cares so much about brakes though. Takes just as much to stop 30HP as it does 70HP! 100mph is 100mph no matter what it took to get there. But I'm encouraged if its true. I like to see people pushing the limits of the Blast. |

I found alot of red flags with his post and dyno sheet. For one the Harley shop is located in Pittsburgh and he is located in Colorado, he claims alot but only pic he posted was a dyno sheet, claimed to run it at the strip but didn't have any vids of dyno or strip claiming he didn't own a camera... I'll be posting up some new pics on my build soon. I just had my Garrett turbo rebuilt and sent the head out yesterday to have bigger valves installed and get CNC ported. I'm also in the middle of building a custom frame for it so it should be breaking some barriers... |
