Dana,
I first saw your bike at the 20th, took a really cool pic of it in front of the farmhouse at the Buell homestead. I wasn't huge on the thunderbolts at first, but they grew on me. She was a gorgeous bike. I knew Dave had her for a bit, sold it and then started seeing parts show up on eBay. What a shame for such an awesome bike to become that. Wish I had the cash at the time to either buy the bike or some of the parts to keep the dream alive. What a waste of an awesome bike for a frikin engine. My opinion, of course. The S1 is lost now, but your XB is badass too. Great paint on her!

Maybe if you had of put ape hangers on it and a strut instead of that stupid rear shock the new owner wouldn't have had to go to such drastic measures

Tell me the only thing off the old s-1 that was used was the engine and the rest of the bike is still complete.(for a possible future restoration)If not, WHAT A WASTE OF A NICE BUELL.

Don't show that to Jersey Thunder

Sad to see a fine buell butchered like that.
Dana one thing about it, the fit and finish is above average.

Dana,
I have the same problem as you, they're on the had drive yet, but I've got a nasty something from a roommate (porn fiend) on here as well. I did burn a ton of CDs last christmas, but left them in PA and cannot recall what all I had. I'll send you what I have, it may take a bit though. I think I have a pic I printed out in one of my scrap books back home too, if so, it's all yours.

I shed a tear over that too. I'm never going to sell my Cyclone or the Firebolt, both have too many memories, even if they'd go to a good home. You never know...

Not to hijack this discussion, but I recently learned that here in Missouri if a bike is 90% parts from one brand it can be titled as that brand.

For example; if a Buell motorcycle is rebuilt into another frame but retains the 90% buell parts, it could conceivably be re-titled as a Buell motorcycle versus going through hoops to get a builders title...

Of course, we all know the difference and there is no way the above pictured 'chopper' should ever be considered a Buell motorcycle even if it met the 90% criteria.

but that's just something happening here.

I am sure this isnt what you want to hear, BUT i have to admit, he did a nice job on the chopper, i like the look and its not your tipical mutant chopper
It is ashame the guy tore it up, but i do like it
wish i knew what kind of frame that was, or who made it
Maybe you could pass me that info Dana

Have no idea Roger.I don't really know the guy.I'm not denieing that the chopper looks well ok.But it suck's knowing all the hard work I went through to convert the M2 into what you see here 6 years ago with no friends that owned Buells and no knowledge of the BadWeb.It would of been alot easier know all you guys then when I was in search for parts. It did come together easy after I found the right people though.

I like customs and choppers and the one pictured above is a nice one except for the apehangers. But the guy could have done the same without parting another nice bike. The only thing to me that looks like is off the s-1 is the engine. The frame looks like a paughco to me also, but could be any number of frames being built these days that come with an MSO for title purposes. I have an 83 650 heritage special that I would like to street track, but it is way to nice, so I'm waiting to find a more beat one to build.

Yea, i guess, but like TOm said, there are so many frame guys out there, its almost imposiable to figure out whats what
I have to admit, i thik it would be fun to build one, but deciding on the frame has been the hardest thing
And really, i dont have enuff imagination to come up with one in my head, i would pretty much have to copy one, to get the look i would want
Or i would end up just taking the BUell apart, and in the end putting it back together, thinking i actually did some thing LOL
Oh well, lack of funds dosent help either

tough to see one's work be ignored -- my father in law (model a accumulator) told me, "I don't care what happens to it once I sell it -- since I sold it, the other guys wants it more than me, and it's his to do with as he pleases"

there's some truth to that -- the guy DID do a nice job on the bobber (lots of frames available for that application, btw), but I understand regreting selling the scoot --

Yeah, as choppers go, it's not a bad one. From my perspective, though, it's hard to see it as an improvement over an S1.

I mean, rear suspension is a good thing, right?

Depends on your goals, i would love a knuckle, and that has no rear suspention, that in and unto itself does not make it a bad bike, just ment for a different purpose

R: Agreed, and I'd love a knuckle, too. And, to be "correct", a Knuckle would go into a rigid frame. Mine would have a sprung seat post, which was, I believe, standard equipment back in the day.

It just strikes me as "retrograde progress" to take a bike with a pretty decent rear suspension and turn it into a rigid.

To paraphrase Choptop, that's "styling for styling's sake!"

Why else would anybody own a ridgid, sprung seat or not
That style of bike is all about style, and fun of course, nothing more
But fun it would be, but of course i find mopeds fun, as well as once
A bike with a motor atached to the front wheel, scary for scary's sake, but fun none the less

Ding, ding, ding....and the bell has sounded.

In the red corner...fighting out of the Windy City is Groundskeeper.

In the blue corner and hailing from Space City is Thang.

Oh my...a wicked upper cut from The Keeper. Sure looks like Thang is dazed.

Thang comes back with a quick 1-2 combo. There's no counting that guy out just yet.

This is certain to be the fight of the winter.

BTW...I think it's a great looking chopper;)
