Help...I took a V&H muffler off of my 2000 S3T. It mounted on the rear with 2 bolts vertically down through a bracket into the top of the muffler. The Wileyco Ti I am trying to mount uses two straps at the rear which appear to require horizontal mounting holes in the bracket. Mine has none. Don't know if it is a stock mounting bracket or not. Any help or photos would be appreciated. |

The straps bolt to the original bolt holes the original muffler mounted to. I believe that the V&H you had added a bracket to the original bolt holes under your bike. It may be as simple as removing the V&H bracket. The bolt holes should be spaced about 3 inches apart if I remember. Also, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, When mounting the new exhaust make sure it is not putting any presure on the front mount. It will break (I know from experience! Mount the whole system loose and wiggle it into place so that the front bracket lines up well with the front mount on your bike. WileyCo came out with an updated system which I have run on my bike for 7,000 miles now, no problems. The new system also eliminates the need to use a gasket between the elbow and the exhaust canister. Below is a picture of the new system, notice the solid wraparound elbow bracket.

Do you have a picture of the bracket? I don't think mine is the original bracket. Mine is just an L-bracket with a horizontal with 2 holes it it. |

By the way, mine is the old style front mount which works with the old style front bracket. |

I don't have a picture (I am at work and my bike is at my shop 100 miles north) but I got this from the vance and hines website. This image shows the Chassis attachment points of the bracket. These are the same locations that the Wiley Co. system will bolt to. If this bracket is still on your bike remove it. |

Now it is starting to make sense. The bracket on my bike looks like this one with the skinnier upright cut off. I assume the straps from the wileyco mount to the holes the black bracket was mounted to. Now I just have to find the hole where the second ear would have bolted if not cut off. Thanks. Wish me luck. |

Good luck. Once you get the system mounted up, I highly suggest taking it to dealership for Dyno Tuning. It got me 11 hp for $165.

I don't see where the outermost mounting bolt attaches. Here is what I have. |

1. This should be the rear mounting hole. The straps actually go pretty close together. 2. Here it looks like the V&H bracket broke off which is why it is not utilizing the back mounting hole.

The more I look at it, it appears there should be a rubber bushing in ther, but I don't remember that on my bike. I would have to check my service manual, or I may have a chance to look at my bike tomorrow. |

It is pretty big hole for a small bolt, although they come with about 1 inch dia. washers. A bushing would make sense. Thanks for all of your help. I should have posted the picture sooner. It makes sense now. |

I agree, that does look like a big hole. it has been two years since I put mine on. Just curious did you get an old or new system? |

My bike still has the original front mounting bracket, so I got the old style system with the bolt on elbow. Mine is the Titanium version. Got it for $125 from a shop in oregon off ebay.

That is a good price. Just keep an eye on the front mount. If it snaps it can lead to snapping an exhaust stud bolt and then you will be a very unhappy camper. Good luck. One more thing. After 5,000 mile on my old system the packing in the muffler was in perfect condition, hopefully yours will run just as good. |

With the muffler almost touching the bottom of the engine, the strap tabs are about 2 inches too short to reach the mounting holes. I have an email in to Wileyco customer service. |

From the picture above, you are missing the outer bushing and it's inner spacer. In the parts manual, they are called a "muffler mount kit, rear" The Wileyco will need this mount. |

my 1st gen Wileyco used the stock Z bracket for the rear mounting -- as Blake sez, there's a big ol rubber bisquit, er, bushing, and spacer what lives in the equally big ol hole Bow, bow, bow, Bow |

I got a chance to look at my bike. From the picture you sent there should be a metal bracket that hangs down those two inches you were short from the big holes that should have rubber bushings in them. I think that part is from Buell. It is on that bracket that your straps will bolt to. This will be the last help I can offer till next week as I am flying out tomorrow morning to Florida for the weekend. |

Thanks everybody. I got a very quick reply from Wileyco. My muffler is the first generation and yes a I am missing the stock buell bracket. I will have to try and track one down. I want to praise Wileyco. They responded by email within a few hours and were very helpful. Too bad most other companies don't have this good of customer service. |

Bandirola, I think I have an extra Z bracket you can have. Send me a PM with your address and I'll get it in the mail for you. Next week, I plan to be in Ft Lewis for a day or two. I would offer to deliver the part in person, but my schedule looks pretty tight. The mail is probably better. Dale |

Well, it looks like I'm in the same situation with my new Wileyco. I need that Z bracket as well. Anyone know where I can get 1 to put on my X-1? Taking off the broken up V&H pipe until I can get the welder out and make repairs. |
