According to this add, my X1 is much more of a torque machine than I realized: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buell-Lightning-X1-LIGHTNING-INJECT-RED-X-1-X1-LI GHTNING-WHITE-LIGHTNING-PM-POLISHED-WHEELS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ49985QQite mZ4594927728QQrdZ1 |

American Classic is a reputable dealer in the Philly area. I think they are or are affiliated with an HD dealership in or around Valley Forge. Nice looking bike, but then aren't they all? I am pretty sure I have lied about even higher torque numbers on mine when speaking to the non-enlightened... But then my buddy with a Raven claims 210 hp so I needed some kind of rebuttal! |

I like the line right under the pictures that states "Don't get scammed on Ebay" So if I buy this bike, have it dyno'd and if comes out somewhere around 70-80 lbs of torque do I get half my money back? I am sure they are an ok dealer, but if the were good, they would take the time to advertise the product correctly. |

I have a race kit on my 01x1, I get 86.66hp and 78.11lbs of totque to the rear wheel. I had it dyno'd at fremont cycle center in California. No Idea what it is at the crank. Hope that helps. Edit to add: Stock weight is 470lbs Dry. (Message edited by wceviper on December 04, 2005) |

My brother has a 99X1 with Nallin stage 2, 10.5:1, race kit, 1250 kit and he runs 100 hp and 94 ft lbs at the rear wheel. I have more or less the same set up with my 99X1 but with V&H, a .555 or .585 lift cam (no one can recall for sure, it's pretty lumpy) modified FI, purported to produce 116hp and 110 ft lbs at the rear wheel although I never got a copy of the dyno chart. I did change my front pulley to a 26 tooth which in my humble inbred bucktooth calculations should increase torque 8%. Therefore, I feel confident lying my a$$ off and figuring I now have about 118 RW ft lbs x 1.2 to compensate for parasitic drive train loss equaling 141 engine ft lbs, X 1.33 BS factor for a whopping 188 ft lbs. Eat your heart out Cycle Rama! |

Folks, the HP is at the rear wheel. The torque is at the crankshaft but is calculated from the RWHP and the engine RPM, so it does include the effects of parasitic drivetrain losses, but it is referenced/scaled to the crankshaft, not the rear wheel. The torque at the rear wheel varies from the crankshaft with each gear change according to the overall gear reduction ratio, with torque at the rear wheel being maximum in first gear and about ten times what it is at the crankshaft. |

I'm just happy knowing that my S3T will beat most jap bikes up to about 100mph when their 12000rpm horsepower kicks in. Besides I'm too lazy to shift that much. |

Very good point Blake and I was only funnin anyways. I really do like the way my bike jumps when I goose the throttle, the butt dyno tells all... Had a guy on the way home the other night in a $150,000 Benz M55 Compressor. He was trying to out accelerate me at every traffic light. I just kept a nose in front of him like I didn't notice he was thrashing his car big time. I was shifting slow and he would catch up and I would pull away a few feet and shift into the next gear. I never got it above 5,000 rpm and he gave up after 4 traffic lights. Torque rules! |

I call that fishing. Make it seem close so that I know how fast they are. If you blow them away, they give up. |
