Okay, here is a loaded question...for my fellow Texans. Do you have a dealer in Texas that is Buell savvy, and if so, who? In other words, do you have a dealer you think is in touch with the Buells, and if you took your bike in for service, they would do a good job on it? The reason I am asking, I have been overseas the last year and a half...will return next summer. I am handy with a wrench and do most of my own stuff, but I would like to know where the "good" dealers are when I get back...don't mind traveling a little bit to get to the right wrench/dealer. I would go to Appleton, but that is on the other border, ha ha! See you guys on 337 in the Hill Country when I get back! Thanks for the input...Cyko Bob |

Hey there CYKO, I see you are in Korea. I spent 1 year there with the 2nd Infantry (Camp Hovey) including 3 months on the DMZ back in '85-'86. Should be fairly warm there the next couple of months.....lol I use Austin Harley/Buell. I bought a Roadking from them 3 years ago and they service my CityX. I have yet to have a problem with them. Hi, I own a CityX and am based in Houston. I purchased by scooter at Mancuso HD on the loop, at the time my bike was part of a Buell display in the middle of the show room floor. Mancuso does not carry Buell parts or even a t-shirt. I have had very good conversations with their service people and when we stopped in during the summer to browse they checked our tire pressures and seemed knowledgable. I had my bike serviced once at Woodlands HD. I have never been in their showroom but their Buell logo is no longer present on the building so I would think they have dropped the line. The service experience was neither good or bad. I will probably go back to Mancuso only because I work nearby. Enjoy the kimchi I was in Seoul for a business trip in 2001 and I thought they where trying to kill me everytime we went out to eat... |

It's a little far from you, but American Eagle HD-Buell in Corinth (North of DFW) has proven itself to be very reputable by several people here including myself. |

Mike, I could be wrong, but I think Mancuso's store on 290 @ Hwy 6 carries the Buell line. rt |

I haven't had my Buell in for any dealer servicing for so long I cannot give a well-informed opinion at this time. I think Shreveport may have even dropped the Buell line, which is really surprising, as they were a good dealership from my experience. Tyler (Lone Star H-D/Buell/Triumph) is very pro-Buell; the few times they helped me they were great. If Randal is still working the Buells in the shop, I'd recommend them highly. |

Mancuso/290 has exclusive Buell sales in Houston now. They are the only HD dealership in the city limits that sells Buells. I bought my XB12Ss from them a couple of months ago and had a pleasant experience. I shopped around at other dealerships outside of Houston, but was please with Mancuso and also close to my house. |

Thanks for the input guys...Austin Harley sounds the closest to where I will be most of the time, although my wife's kids live in Houston, so that is a possibility. As I said, if I need to take something to a dealer I am willing to travel knowing it will be done right and expertly. Superbee...yep...headed to Texas in just a couple of days for some R&R, and maybe a trip to Big Bend...I will hit the Hill Country for sure. Unfortunately, I will on a brand K motorcycle, but if I see any Buelligans I will be talking to them. I took my XB9 out this past Saturday...Brrrrrrr. It was the last weekend for one of my friends, and he wanted to make a last ride with me. That evening it snowed...snow and ice on the ground now...Brrrrrr! And Mike...agree on the Korean food, ha ha! On trips I either go on a diet, carry apples, get pizza, or simply eat rice. Fortunately, we have some Korean wives in the group who do the interpreting, so I avoid most of the highly seasoned stuff! I picked up my XB9 from Javalina H-D in Boerne. The store people were okay, but I did not get the impression they (including service) were really Buell guys. Alamo H-D, their sister dealership lost the keys before I took delivery of the bike...so I am kind of leary of that crowd. Having said that, I noted Buell had a ride last year in the Hill Country...departing from Javaline H-D/Buell. Did any of you make that run? Sorry, I missed it being over here. I am picking up a new Buell (XB12Scg) this summer, so I want to have it serviced by a Buell friendly stealership. Thanks to all for the info and any future posts to this question. Although I have enjoyed touring (and running the twisties) in Korea, I look forward to getting back to Texas...especially the Hill Country. Cyko Bob...racin' the wind and chasin' the sun... |

Johnny Verlandon (sp) at Austin H-D/ Buell in south Austin is reputed to be the man to have working on your Buell in these parts. The guys at Central Texas H/D in north Austin are pretty supportive but I believe that JV, if he is still there, would be yer best choice. Watch the weather- S'posed to get dicey around mid-week out here FWIW (Message edited by Madbandito on December 05, 2005) |

I used to use Austin H-D/Buell. I bought two bikes there. Years ago, they had Buell specific sales people, most of whom changed to selling Ducati from my understanding. Back then, you could go in and have a motivated conversation about Buells. Not so anymore. In general, now they have the HD attitude we all know well. They will get the work done, but don't expect much more. Some of the service guys are friendly and helpful, others are not. Overall, I would rate them about a 5 out of 10. Bring cold weather riding gear to Austin, it was below freezing this morning and will likely be pretty cold for the next week. 337 on a Buell = Heaven. |

Exactly what Bandito said, JV should be the man for wrenching at Austin HD. last year I got my 'bolt from Javelina HD, but they definitely aren't Buell oriented. That said, the BRAG ride they hosted last year was a hoot. I got to ride 335, 336, and 337, and the fun factor was unbelievable. Bob if you're in the Austin area Thurs. nights are bike night james |
