Do you mean the hugger or the tail section? I removed the hugger awhile back and never got around to putting it back on. Just a note, laying off the burnouts is a good idea when "hugger-less" |

I have an S1 and like the looks without the hugger. I also shaved the tail section so to show the sub-frame tubes underneath. (Message edited by buellfighter on December 03, 2005) |

Hugger.. I cut off the part that goes over the belt and sprocket, so it looks a bit normal and doesn't clutter up the rear. I put mine back on b/c I was tired of sand and dirt getting up by the ecm and oil bag. |

Pretty sure my RS never had one, and the S2 hugger unit (which is what my bike is cleverly disguised as - an S2) wouldn't fit with the chain drive. I always have this semi-yuchy coating if particle- embedded tire spew all up in there. When I notice the bike getting slower because of the extra weight, I'll hose it out. AL |

One off the parts I (almost the first day) removed was the hugger. No problems, looks much better! |

I went one further than removing the rear hugger. I cut of the mounting lugs too! The hugger became a pain in the rear anyway with the X1 arm and Metmachex oil tank fitted. I got sick of cutting windows in the carbon hugger so's it wouldn't collide with the tank, which meant repairing the hugger around the mounts too a couple of times after it did collide. Repairing carbon fiber in such a delicate area is no easy task either. S1W looks better without a rear hugger anyway. It just took me a year or two to realize it. Rocket |

Now to trim that cam cover, mount up a force intake and you'll be seeing that old donkey bike on the front of a magazine. |

No rear hugger for me. No belt guard. No heat guards, no flyscreen... and no friggin belt! Darnit! Oh well, today was 80F and tomorrow is supposed to be cold. Got my riding in and snapped the belt pulling a wheelie while shifting into 3rd gear just blocks from home. Perfect! Time to get me one of them new indestructionable Uly belts. |

You may have convinced me on the cam cover but not until I find a suitable pulley cover or idea, like say a pulley made of billet alloy with some holes in it would look fancy, rather than cover it up. The Force is already with me!! Rocket |

I had a nice carbon hugger on the S1 but decided to put it on the S3, especially after seeing how the Scorpion Sinc looks on the back of the 1 with no hugger. I will keep it that way now, but would suggest the banke oil fill cap for anyone that goes this route (helps keep the dirt out of the tank. I also removed the fly-screen. Only thing extra to clutter things up are the pair of nitrous bottles hanging of the side (have yet to finish the install of the fuel pump though). |

Blake, am I missing something? I've seen pic's of your M2 and never noticed a billet front sprocket. Can't say I've ever heard of anyone making one either, which is ridiculous really when you consider the performance aspect of such a heavy piece of spinning steel. Post info / pic please. Rocket |

I still have mine. I have a strict policy of "leave it alone if it doesn't fall off/bother you" I haven't even chopped my rear fender. (behind+under me so I don't even care) |

I had an aftermarket x1 hugger on my m2, which led to eventual cracking from clearance issues, so I was without a hugger for a couple months, until I got the stock one back. I like it much better with the hugger, the bike and I both seem to stay noticeably cleaner. Plus, I don't have to worry about passenger foot-belt interference. |

It's a piece that I don't like, but don't want to run without a fender. Not that big on the looks of carbon fiber so far now I'm stuck with it. |

Rocket, I have one. It is still in the box. Am saving it for a special day. Will probably mount it up with the new belt. |

No hugger here, I dropped all of the stock plastic. I would like to find a piece to give the underside of my M2 tail a more finished look. |

So are there any rain or mud issues when running without a rear fender? |

Blake! wear it on a gold chain. I used to work with a vietguy (several actually). One day I saw that he was wearing this HUGE fancy gold bauble on his neck. I started to ask him where he got it and then I recognized it: It was a couple of old pentium chips that he taped together so the gold pins were sticking out. That guy was a riot. |

No hugger, but I did make a little aluminum (that's aluminium to you, Sean!) plate to keep the road grit off the top of my oil tank. rt |

Blake old son, there's nuthin like being vague right? So who made it, what's it look like (in the box will do), and where do I get mine? POST THE DARN PIC WILL YOU! No need for no stinkin aloominum plate. I don't ride far in the winter and I try to avoid bad weather, though I don't mind getting caught in the odd torrential down pour during the warmer months! I like to push a little in the wet so you can feel the rear tyre(s) sliding at times. Nope I don't like it when the front slides! Rocket |
