OK, here the deal. I have put together a promotion for the winter months for XB12X bikes. Here goes, Buy the bike between Dec 1 2005 and Jan 31st 2006. Paperwork must be done, bike must be paid for by Jan 31st 2006. I will store the bike for free until May 4th 2006. They will be kept in our heated warehouse, put in the battery tender rotation and be covered up. Be in Appleton Thursday May 4th to pick up the bike. I can set up the suspension and go thru the bike with you. Thursday night, get together for dinner. Friday May 5th, ride to East Troy to see the factory. I have not set up the details with the factory yet. I'm sure it will be good. Lunch at Gus' Drive In Ride back to Appleton Sat May 6th Ride to Iron Mountain MI in the U.P. This is only about a 3-4 hours ride so it will leave us plenty of time to do some exploring on Sat afternoon. There are plenty of roads that will be perfect for the ULY. I have a local that is willing to be tourguide for us while we are there! They even have coffee for Kandie and Bobbie. Dinner together Sat night in Iron Mountain Sunday May 7th Sleep in, go have coffee or come out and ride. Your choice. At 2pm we will head back to Appleton or you can head home from the UP depending on where you are headed. Details so far, We will have a chase trailer to haul gear and some repair parts just in case. The U.P. is a very scenic area with waterfalls and even mountains? I've never been there so it will be an adventure for me too. What's the deal as far as the $$? Last years Buy,Fly and Ride program was a huge hit but it was a total pain to keep everything straight as far as who was flying, driving, how many night of hotel and so on. This year I have decided to make it easier and fair to everyone. 2006 XB12X 11495.00 Frt 240.00 setup no charge Program discount -500.00 Cost of the bike 11235.00 Plus, you get a 100.00 gift certificate to the dealership. 15% off all your parts and gear at time of purchase and for the following year. If you buy luggage for the bike you will get the 15% off and I'll throw in the installation for free! Factory warranty thru March 31st 2008, so you will not lose much warranty time while the bike is in storage here. I'll get some t-shirts made for everyone who participates in the promotion. You will be responsible for your own expenses getting to, staying in Appleton and Iron Mountain and getting home. I will arrange a group deal with the motels in both towns. I want to take at least 10 new Ulys to the U.P. OK, who's going to be first? Small details to be worked out as they come up. |

There's no way I could make the ride, but the deal sounds pretty good. I'll be getting my next bike on or around March 27th. Talk me into it. Steve Gear up! |

That's the great part of how I have this one set up. If you can't make the ride that's all you lose out on(not that the ride isn't a lot) |

You're not bringing Spidey with you are you I'll keep everyone posted. Just got the word from East Troy. Lunch at Gus' drive in with Erik and other key people at Buell is a go. So, you get to get a really cool bike, go see the factory where it is built and then go have lunch with some of the people that make it happen, including Erik himself. Bring your paint pens and some clear plastic if you want your bike signed. Pretty cool stuff! I love my job! |

Coolice, I need some off pavement roads to ride. Between Chicago and Milwaukee I've found one gravel road that's about 2 miles long. I think the farmers are about ready to sic the dogs on me. Ottawa is about a 2-3 hr ride. Maybe we'll hook up in the spring? |

Bienhoabob, I haven't been there for several years, but there used to be several dirt roads just across the Wisconsin line near the lake. We used to surf at a place just south of Kenosha that we called "the Wedge" which was on a dirt road. To the Californiators: I've since been to the 'real' Wedge, at Newport, and have determined that there really is little to compare. (They both break left.) Steve Gear up! |

WOW Dave that's the deal of the life time...I am there...oh wait...I can't make it I am currently in Baghdad, Iraq. I won't be home until AUG '06. I plan on buying a Uly for my returning home present and retirement gift to ME...as long as the wife approves. Sure wish I could come for this event!!! It is the best deal out there, and would be so much fun. What a way to break in the bike...riding it back home!!! Your price is even better than I can get through the ENCS AAFES Excahnge New Car Sales!!! I had planned to get my bike through them, but I might change my mind... Sure wish I would be in the country then. I will keep you in mind when I get ready to buy...maybe we can strike a deal...but would be way cool to have Erik sign the bike. Thanks, keep up the great work. You're an insperation to bikers every where. Paul (Message edited by waorgany on November 19, 2005) |

Paul: Here's the deal . . . you keep your head down and tend to the task at hand. DaveS and I, I'm betting, can make darn certain you get one dickens of a swell deal and Erik would be honored to sign your bike. Let me know if you want to ride it to East Troy, from Dave's, to have it signed. But. . . for now. . . EYES FRONT and know we are all supporting your efforts. even though I see you are a Ranger and not a Marine. Court |

Court- remember, Rangers are for attacking targets of strategic importance behind enemy lines, while we Marines are America's amphibious force in readiness. But both kick and take names, and that's what counts. |

Paul, good luck man. I hope you had an OK thanksgiving. My oldest boy is in Kirkuk(sp?)and around there somewhere(EOD). I haven't heard from him in a week or so but normally he's pretty good about keeping the old man's nerves calmed. Don't believe all the crap that you may see in the mainstream press, most all of us back home support you guys 100% and are in awe of the job that you're faced with on a daily basis. This is my son's second tour and when he gets back he'll probably have more ribbons than I had when I retired at 20yrs back in 99. Hell of a way to make a living ain't it? Anyway, Godspeed and watch you six. Steve |

Steve...I deal with EOD Guys on an almost daily basis...those guys stay pretty busy!! We send them much more business than they deserve, but I much rather have them defuse an IED than have another one blow up on me or my Soldiers...its not too fun. Heck of a way to ruin your day!!! We did have a great Thanksgiving Day. Thanks for all the support. Hopefully in 9 or 10 months I too will be able to own and ride a "Black" Uly of my very own. Talk to you all later...back to the war. |
