Can anyone recommend a good motorcycle shipper? I have heard so many horror stories on this subject and want to take every precaution to make sure my new bike arrives OK. I have been looking at JC Motorcycle shippers as they seem to tie down and cover each bike with care or at least thats what their website leads you to believe.

I used Daily Direct to ship my bike from Charlotte, NC to SLC Utah last year while I was out there for 4 months. Someone here recommended them to me. All they do are bikes on a specially designed rig. I was very impressed. Make sure you have a little lead time. The website is Haulbikes.com

Hope this helps

i can tell you NOT to use forward air. bike showed up in a flimsy metal cage that was all bent out of shape with a crudy KAWASAKI box to cover it!! wound up getting a couple of scratches on my mirrors from the cage. not a horrible experience, but i won't use them again.

I shipped my M2 from Baltimore to San Diego for the RANE ride last summer, but built my own crate. I was able to dig up a bunch of old plywood and 2x4s and went from there. Shipping with them and my own crate was considerably less that other places I looked at. My crate came out looking like it had been through a war though, doubt I'd use them again. It looked like the thing got speared with a forklift... Luckily no damage. But hey, I was on a budget.

I used Daily Direct. They do only ship motorcycles and the rigs/setup they have is superb for the actual transport of the bike. However it took almost exactly a month to get my bike. First they said it was picked up . After 2 weeks no bike or phone call. I called them and They tell me oh the driver picked it up on the way out on his run but didnt deliver it because it wasnt put in his schedule. So my bike bike made a cross country trip before they finaly delivered it. Then they gave me a date it was going to b shipped, no call again. I call them & talk to 3 diff people and got 3 different stories of the actual departure date and delivery date. I honestly would never use them again. I had way too much stress when it came to delivering my bike from them.

I've used Allied/Federal three times, they did a great job every time. They're a little expensive, but they're cheaper if you can go from a business to a business, like from one friendly bike shop to another.

I've shipped 2 bikes with JC Motors and both arrived fine. They use tie-straps, a pallet and a bike cover. The tracking system is not accurate, however. If you have the option of having the bike shipped to a nearby terminal you can save a few $$. Otherwise they will pick-up and deliver door-to-door.
I would recommend them.

Maybe I should re-express my dealings with Daily Direct. If Delivery Date is NOT a factor on anything. Unlike my situation, Daily Direct would be a no go.
However the rig and setup they had was as nice and as state of the art as you could get. I had no scratches/rubs from the way the secured it down, the truck was super clean, Brand new rig I think. Wich usually is a good indicator of things. Had it dropped off at my Door literaly. So the actual transport I have no complaints there. If they had theyre act together and could of given me more confidence on theyre end of what was up with my bike I would use them again for the actual transport.

I would recommend Federal Companies. I have found them to be the best.

Federal Companies

Ps. They offer a discount to all HOG and BRAG members.

Another thing to look at is if you have to drain the fuel.

I am still waaay pissed at Daily Direct over Sgthiggs deal.
It will be a long time before they get any more of my business.
I too was calling them and getting different people with different answers.

They dropped the ball big time on the deal.

The worst part was after being like 2 weeks late with his bike, they didn't offer anything to make it right. Nothing.

My favorite part of having my bike shipped was seeing it come off of the back of a truck 2600 miles away from home...It felt like Chrismahanakwansika!!!Although my experience went off without a hitch, I'll be trying someone else next time I'm out west after reading about some of your dealings with D.D.

There is a website called Uship.com where you can post what you would like shipped, and people will give bids on what they will charge you to ship it. May not be a bad option if you can find somebody who has reasonable feedback. Besides, they may give you better attention to care on your single bike rather than the companies who ship multiple bikes and don't really care.

A gentleman in Utah purchased my wife's Sportster and used Keyboard Motorcyle Shipping.

I was impressed with the driver and the set up they used for transporting bikes.

No connection, other than being impressed with them....

I used daily direct once... As has been said already, if you don't care how long it takes, they are a great way to go. But if you need it quick, either plan waaaay ahead or use another company.

I hope that guy was working in the rain, or otherwise he has extremely active sweat glands.

Looks like a good system.

Definitely some horror stories out there and, like others who have done this a few times, I've got a few myself. The best thing you can do is to contact a couple shippers to compare prices, services, etc. Calling them up is recommended since it's easier to get an idea of how they treat their customers and their professionalism. I've used this company several times with no issues https://www.a1autotransport.com/services/motorcycl e-shipping.php so they may be a good place to start.
