Hey just wanted to let you guys in the KC area know (eh short notice but hey they're not paying me to get the word out) that Letko Performance Cycles in Kansas City, KS is having an open house tomorrow (Saturday 11/19) and they have a couple demo bikes. I think I heard 'em say 9-4pm? Anyway Ducati's doing it nation wide to show off their new Monster S2R 1000, so they had one of those and a Monster S2R 800. I rode both today, different than the Buell but I thought the 1000 was very nice. Their Ducati service tech went out on the demo ride with me, his name is Mario. He's a cool guy, very easy to talk to and obviously knows Ducatis inside and out. And he didn't p**** foot around during the demo ride either, we got on 'em and did a few good corners. He said he use to have a Lightning, dunno if it was an XB or what but he didn't trash Buells or anything...so he might be glad to see a few Buells show up there tomorrow. Never hurts to test ride... |

Hmmmm. We need a patch........ (only half-a-sissy - I didn't buy the pant liners nor socks. My electrical system couldn't handle the pants, I think.) |

How many amps is the XL putting out? I think it's the same as my Buell. The Buell is 38amps that's 456 watts at 12v. That's plenty of juice! I already have the patch...Looks like this. "Gerbing" I think means sissy in German. LOL

I am not sure - I need to check somewhere. I got an E-mail form H-D saying recent H-Ds can handle 3 items. I decided to err on the side of caution, although I now think I should have got the dual controller just in case I added pants later. Oops. I just don't want to kill the battery and leave myself stranded.... Ah well, as long as my hands and body core are warm, I'll probably be fine. If not, the pants will plug into the jacket liner. Time to go pull the seat and hook things up. |

dusty the xl has the same charging system as the new xb12's it can handle more than you can put on it that came straight from eric buell himself...cause i asked about that when i talked to him at homecoming this year....

Cool! Pant liners, here I come......... I couldn't find any mention of Amp or Watts in the service manual. I did see where there is a separate electrical system manual. It was a tough battle hooking up to the battery. You can't slide the battery out until you disconnect the negative cable from the battery itself. You can't disconnect the cable until you slide the battery out. I finally hooked one wire to the other end of the negative cable. I hope my battery never dies. I'll probably have to disassemble the bike..... |

some of you may have noticed I started awhile back ending all my posts with the psychotic smiley face so when it came available on a toolbox offered by Matco I had to get it.... of course I will get the red side box repainted by our bodyshop black to match...

Cool! -------------- I LOVE electricity! Nice and toasty on the way in today. Too toasty - I need to get separate controllers for the jacket liner and gloves. The jacket was too hot. Need to get the socks, too. No pants needed, though. (What an image.) |

Loren - the Gerbing's outlets are nice and handy. I don't want to add one more harness for the battery tender, should I need to. Is there an adapter somewhere that converts the outlet to mate with a battery tender, that you know of? I know I could splice something together if I had to...

Bill, I'm guessing that the battery tender uses an SAE type plug. If that's the case look here towards the bottom of the page. There's a pig tail adapter for the coax to SAE. I'm using a second coax plug and harness as an accessories outlet on the bike too. http://www.warmnsafe.com/motorcycle_accessories.php I also added a digital volt meter to the bike too so I could keep an eye on the charging system and battery. This is what I used www.digitalmeter.com (Message edited by gowindward on November 28, 2005) |

Loren - that cable is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks! The digital voltmeter looks very useful, but I have no "dash" to mount it on. |

Paul the microwave went on the bike months ago! Next will be a satellite dish. I can come over and we can have the wire harness gutted like a fish in nothing flat! I'll even bring the wire cutters. I managed to slip in a 280 mile ride passed old man winter today before this next round of snow. It was for work so I got paid today and made 45 cents a mile to boot! |

I'm thinking a chili supper on the 15th. Don't forget to bring in your mileage figures. Should we have to ride in for verification....? |

Chris, A Chili dinner sounds good. Any ideas on who is bringing what to the dinner or a head count estimate? If weather permits I'll ride to the meeting it will add another 60 miles to the odometer. |

Something has come up which would cause us to change the meeting night to either the 16th Friday, or the 22nd the following Thursday. Which would you guys/gals prefer? I'll bring a big pot of chili, last time we had about 15-20. Maybe crackers, cheese, rolls? Let me know what you think. Hey does Gerbing make a crockpot? |

Chris is there a schedule conflict at the dealership? Can we move the location of the meeting if that is the case? The 16th is no good for me. The wife's company X-mas party is that night. The 22nd is okay. |

Yes a "event" conflict. If the 22nd will work I'll call the regulars and keep posting, for the change. Looking forward to the chili supper, and to see those mileage figures. Let me know. 913-908-2870 |

Loren - you still riding? I am going to stop for a while. Today I hit some ice and it cost me a handguard, and chrome off both mufflers and the engine guard. And my dignity. While I was trying to regroup my senses, some 60+ year old guy ran up and picked my bike up for me, and staryed around until he safely saw me out of the area. I was too frazzled to get his nme, but I owe him big time.... |
