In early October I brought my '05 XB to my dealer due to a loud knocking noise from the engine. They confirmed it was making a loud noise but after checking it out they told me they found nothing wrong and that they had spoken with someone at Buell that said it was "normal" engine noise. They put it back together and said to let them know if it happened again. When I picked it up the noise was gone. About a month later I called the dealer regarding an oil and filter change they had admittedly forgotten to do. While the service manager was reviewing my service record, he told me that the primary fluid had already been changed back in Oct when they installed the new compensator nut??!! After asking him what he was talking about, he explained that they had found the compensator nut was loose and they replaced it back in Oct. This was news to me since they had initially told me nothing was wrong and hadn't even given me a receipt for the work. This past Saturday the engine started making the same knocking noise again. I've read some posts that indicated there had been an update to the service manual regarding the correct torque for the compensator nut. I'm hoping the service dept at my dealer is aware of this, but at this point I'm not so sure. Where can I tell them to look for that information? Should I contact Buell customer service? I checked the Buell website but couldn't find a phone number to call. Will they contact the dealer about the problem? I'm not feeling very confident with the quality of service from my dealer right now and obviously I would like to get this fixed correctly. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Have them look it up on HDnet That is the dealer only site and there is a service bulletin that will tell them the correct torque. If they can't find it have them call me and I can get it to them. |
