All, I didn't know the best place to put this, but I've seen folks on here get help on warranty issues in the past. I have a 2000 M2 Cyclone with 52,300 miles on it (covered under the extended warranty). Last week the rear bearings catastrophically failed and damaged the wheel. HD extended warranty says only the bearings are covered and the wheel is not covered although it was damaged as a result of the bearings failing. Any insight on this would be appreciated. Tony |

I'd take it up a notch. Speak to someone's supervisor. Pursue it from the "asking for help/assistance on this matter" If it's the dealership telling you this, escalate the matter one step at a time. It makes sense to me that if a wheel bearing failed and caused damage to a wheel...it would all be covered. Similarly, if an oil pump failed would they deny a claim to a toasted engine or just offer to replace the oil pump? DAve |

Tony -- I'd ask for a second opinion, if I was you -- that just doesn't make any sense -- remember that the extended warrenty is likely not an HD administered thing, but a third-party deal (HD sells it to ya and transfers the paper elsewhere, more often than not) |

I'm going to call again tomorrow. I'm hoping the guy I was talking to today was new, plain stupid or both. Anyone out there with any pull with the HD Warranty folks....help! Tony |

I know! What else is the warantee for? Keep poking at them with a stick until they get it. |

Approach it like a stairway. Take it one step at a time and document your progress with who you speak with, time, what's discussed until it's resolved. Technician, Service writer, Service Dept Manager, Dealership GM, Regional, HD/Buell Customer Service Rep, HD/Buell CS Supervisor, etc. Warranty information should have an 800 number on it too. DAve |

Update...no luck. I'm out the money for the wheel. I'll write a letter, but I don't see them standing behind their product. Tony |

Tony, I assume you are dealing with Southside right? If so, try talking to Joe in parts, tell him chase told ya call, and help if possible... I know the guys at southside, adn they can be a real PITA, they are the reason i dont deal with warranties... Are you the one with the saddle-bags? If so, I was next to you one day, on the draw-brige, heading to chesapeake, in the rain...in my cage(right after my wreck).. Anyway, like I said, try Joe at southside, he might be able to set you up with the rigth person.. Chase |
