Has anyone put the Buell suggested maintenance intervals on the site anywhere yet? Also is there an inexpensive way to increase the oil capacity of the XB's? Seems to me, the stock capacity leaves a bit to be desired for a 1000-1200 aircooled engine. RichieC |

bigger oil filter. Not MUCH better, but every little bit helps. |

Rich, Why do you say that??? I have never heard or noticed that there was a problem with oil breakdown in XB's. At 2,500 miles, the oil in my XB9s is extremely clean. |

2.5 quarts may be fine...But compared to the large twins i've ridden during the last 30 years, it does seem marginal. Must be a reason for the fan cooled rear cylinder though....Has anyone sent in oil at 5k intervals from a hard ridden XB 1200cc engine for analysis. RichieC |

Do yourself a favor and buy the buell manual. |

The new ones are every 5000 miles which to me, being kind of old seems like a loooong time to leave the oil in. For some that would be an oil change once per year? I tell people that oil is cheap insurance, change it often! I do mine every 1500-2000 miles I change the primary/trans every 3-5000, usually every other oil change. YMMV I don't know if a bigger filter will fit a XB. Might be chin fairing clearance issues? |
