go to hillbilly-motors.de (or something like that) and translate into english. basically it is a kit made of 1) a metal velocity stack, shorter (improves torque) 2) a cilindric "mushroom" airfilter by k&N 3) a thermal mat that shields the airfilter from the heat coming from cilinders. man it is awesome, i definitely noticed an improvement compared to my previous setup (pro race airfilter) with FASt you eliminate the entire airbox, actually I've mounted it inside the airbox, to decrease the intake noise (that is very loud after 5000rpm), but you need to make a hole in the top of the airbox cover because the cilindric "mushroom" k&N airfilter is tall and you can't put the airbox cover in place without hitting it. anyway, pictures tells more that words go to that site andave fun! p.s. use also the search button and you'll find some discussion about it |

with "airbox cover" I intend the black one "the airbox lid" not the coloured one with the "buell, american motorcycles" sticker. |

Try typing 'velocity stack challenge' in the search to find some good reading material. |

I just went to Hillbilly-Motors-Motors and must say the F.A.S.T. system looks very interesting. I also found some very good looking exhaust systems, which brings me to my point. Why do I have to go to a German web site to find, not 3 or 4, but 12 different exhaust systems to fit my American motorcycle?! I was particularly taken with the Deep Thunder true dual system. Unfortunately, I don't speak any German so I have no idea what the write up on this system said. It did appear to cost 1300 Euros but I don't know if that is 5000 dollars or 50 cents. (I'm guessing closer to five grand) Does anyone know if there is an American Importer of this system or have any info on it. Thanks |

Hi all, is indeed at this very moment under going construction. Stu who owns B4B is a top chap and very knowledgeable about the XB platform. You can still order from him by using the email on the site. Could I interest you in a sponsorship? You can e-mail me through my profile. Thanks for understanding BadWeB not being able to support non-sponsored advertising. (Message edited by glitch on November 18, 2005) |

Hi Adrenaline, I have both the FAST and the Deep Thunder. The headers are stainless steel and have a larger diameter (the originals look really thin against them). The 2 mufflers are made out of titanium and the whole system weights less than 6kg (13.4lbs). Altogether there are 8 pieces(6 header, 2 mufflers), which are hold together with springs. The exhaust was developed for Hillbilly-Motors race bikes to accompany the larger displacement and gas flow. Just look at the projects pages at their website. I have it now over 4000 miles on my bike with no problems at all (for both: FAST and exhaust). The craftsmanship is excellent. How I said before it is the perfect exhaust if you think on open up the engine too (I certainly will do that after the warranty), else a slip-on would be the better choice money-performance wise. Just search here for "Deep Thunder" and you should find some more info. Hillbilly-Motors changed their distribution system, so I think its hard to get a hold of them, but sent Jens a mail(Jens is his username here) and you are more likely to get a qualified answer from him. He is a nice guy to talk to. Price for both items shipped was around 1600 Euros = $1900. Rene |

The Deep Thunder exhaust is used with Hillbilly-Motors´s Hellbender (1430ccm), with the Grey Fellow (1170) and even with a stock displacement (head ported) XB9. All engines were built or prepared by me. The exhaust works with all of these engines very well. Most of the time it is assumed that a smaller displacement engine needs smaller exhaust headers to keep up flow velocity. But most of the time it is forgotten that a XB9 produces a similar volume of exhaust gas at 7500RPM as a XB12 does at around 6000 RPM. With reworked heads the demand for a well flowing exhaust system increases. This is why we decided to use the Deep Thunder even for a reworked XB9. Best regards Alex M-TeK Engineering |

Hi everyone, Thanks for all the response regarding the Deep Thunder exhaust. Been working 12 hour night shifts so this is the first time I've got back to read the posts. Sounds like a very good pipe, and costs like one too. May have to wait a while on that one. The set-up Madsx is talking about is probably more in my range for right now. Actually, with only 650 miles on my 12Ss, I'll probably keep stripping extraneous parts off for now and wait until Spring to start adding goodies. Again, thanks for all the response. |
