So the throttle body shaft broke, lost somewhere in the engine im sure. So while i wait the 2 weeks for my throttle body to come in from dave!!! Thanks man! Im gonna take apart the head, check the valves, or i might just use hte boroscope from work to look in teh spark plug hole. But since its down, any ideas on a cam? |

I have heard from a good few sources that the stock X1 cams are as good you can get without reworking the head. |

I'm probably wrong.... but I've always been under the impression that the stock X-1 cams were aggressive enough and anything larger would require additional modifications to the mill. |

My throttle body broke on my '99 S3 on a road trip. Unknown what the prob could be, I limped it to a dealership & they identified the problem. In doing so, one screw that held the butterfly to the shaft disappeared. Quoted 10 days before the part would arrive and not knowing what became of the screw, I trucked the bike back home and tore the top end down. I never did find that screw and there was no internal damage. I went ahead and had the heads cleaned up, valve seals if I recall. DAve |

Im gonna end up taking the rocker boxes off, possibly the heads, but the bike is still sitting at work, so im gonna check out a video boroscope from work and check it real quick, might as well |

I've seen this failure in three scoots now, and no parts were ever swalloed by the engine -- this, of course, doesn't mean that yours didn't eat something, but if you're playing the odds . . . . . |

Spyder..if you are going to take the rocker boxes off...DO THE XB COVERS!!... there is a few posts floating around about this conversion, and I intend to do it the next time I have mine off, then again, i am wanting to do the XB heads too...ahh.... Chase |

Spyder, What Chase said! The XB covers are a much cleaner, simpler system. That's the best mod I've done so far. Delta |

Click here: http://home.comcast.net/~buellstuff/DonCastosS3ConventionalWisdom.html It lists the major parts you will need (not listed are gaskets) and states an approx. price of $115. |

spyder: If the mill was running when the problem happened and it aint makin no noises you are prolly waistin' time, The scope is a good idea though. Xb boxes are a 1 afternoon job if you go that way. you have the catch can and stuff why change? Shame you ordered a TB, Ryker77 may have a TB to sell some one else did the de-fuel too just don't remember. |

TSI If you are in the market for mods check the sponsors links and talk to all NRHS like the others is a reputable firm, but spending with the sponsors helps keep the lights on .... |
