That's Shell Honda's Carl Harris at the Mountain at Cadwell Park, England. Scary on most bikes but ultra scary on a Superbike. Even though he is still airborne he is starting to lean into Hall Bends! Next year he's on the official works HRC Fireblade in the British Superbike Championship. |

The car might be slightly confusing to the Tifosi among us... The brakes would be toast anywhere other than Monza and it would exhibit EXTREME under steer on ANY track above 60MPH. |

Well, the first confusing bit would be that it's an F2000 w/ an F2005 (non-tobacco) paint scheme. The owner said that has to do with their contract with Ferrari. The other bits... The front wing looks to me to be a medium/low downforce setup that would be used somewhere like Indianapolis. The rear is a high downforce that would be used somewhere like Brazil (not quite like the Monaco wing though, but close). The brake ducts look to be exactly what would be used at Monza. Very small. They would cook the brakes anywhere else. The car was sitting out in front of my local "Tire Pro's" in Prescott AZ. As you can see there was an old Indy chassis there too, but I've got next to no interest in oval track racing so I was really trying to keep it out of the pics. I believe the owner is the guy sitting on the rear wheel due to the fact that the lady that was there was VERY adamant about no one touching the car except for him. The owner was a dickhead. He called my Buell a "fart bike" (I am running my Force exhaust) but then noticed the American flags and took a closer look . The car is a rolling chassis with no engine, transmission or suspenders. It has struts in place of the suspension system I would guess. The lady there said that it weighs about 500lbs. Apparently they paid $867K for it but I don't believe that. From what she said it was a prototype F2000 that was used for development. If it's not a race chassis, I doubt they paid that much for it. It has a GREAT steering wheel though . My initial gut feeling was that it was probably a bunch of non race worthy CF bits that Ferrari bolted together to re-coup some of the money they spent making them. Then I saw the FIA tag in the drivers seat and behind the drivers head and that indicates that it was indeed a drivable car that almost certainly touched a track. Whether Schumacher was the driver or not I couldn't say. |
