Jack,
It looks great! Is that a a single or dual exhaust outlet set-up?

So the exhaust valve is still present or not?
-Besides sound, what changes should you see? Bottom end? Top end?
I'd like to change the sound a bit but I don't want to sacrifice bottom/mid range at all

No exhaust valve present.
The cable mount screw is still in place - cable is disconnected at either end. I covered the cable ends with heat-shrink, and zip-tyed the top end to prevent it from moving around.

I really didn't get the pipe for performance enhancements, more just for sound. Kevin has comparison dyno charts posted on his site - http://www.kdfab.com/dynamometercharts.htm

There is a noticeable seat-of-the-pants performance increase, although, since the muffler has only been on the bike for a couple of days, my riding so far has been limited to CA Freeway commuting (26 miles each way)

I have noticed that the bike runs cooler - fan comes on less often, and also stays on for a shorter period of time after the ride.

Cheers
-Jack

That looks great Jack. I can't wait to hear it.
We gotta get together soon for a ride.
Great news about the fan too. My wife calls it the Conair. She says it sounds like a hairdrier.

The Drummer is strong all over the rev range, especially in the bottom end, that's why I think it's a great choice for this bike. Also being a modified stock pipe you know it will be a good strong fit and nothing's going to let go - good for peace of mind. Did I mention it sounds deep and strong? Very nice sound. : )

Rhino, that's a real nice looking Uly! You'd have to happy with that.

Jack- Have a picture of the Drummer prior to installation? How is the finish? My stock muffler's paint has much to be desired.

Sound clip yet on the drummer Jack? ANyone have a link to one on an XB12 (I'm sure there are plenty out there)

Say this again Rhino. My understanding is that the cable needs to be pulled tight to open the valve and taped in that position, not just disconnected.

The Drummer has the valve removed.
The cable housing is connected at the pipe end and the cable itself is pulled 'up' at the airbox end where it is disconnected from the actuator, and tied off.
The electrics remain connected.
Since having the Drummer installed, the engine check light no longer comes on.

What I don't get is how you guys keep your bikes so clean. I live on a gravel road, and can't pass up any gravel that I pass..

Not so clean

OH, and the Uly DOES need a longer rear fender. You should see the back of my jacket.

Yep, picked her up about 3 weeks ago. Going in for the 1000 mile service today and sending the can in to Drummer.

Part of what I like about this bike is the grungier it is, the better it looks

So far its been great. Loving it.

I bought and installed the Drummer original about two weeks ago.

Kevin Drum ( at www.kdfab.com ) is a great guy and he worked with me to get the pipe back as soon as possible.

I thought I'd let everyone know that I used diagnostic software to reset the TPS and did an active, running test on the bike both before and after the Drummer was installed.

After the Drummer, the bike runs much cooler. The fan only comes on periodically and briefly when I turn the ignition off - before, the fan ran ALL THE TIME and the bike ran way hot!

The fit and finish is excellent on the Drummer, I can't recommend it highly enough. Easy installation and the sound is great....get one, you won't be sorry!

Hey Chip, I am having my 1000 service done next week. I was planning on getting the Drummer after that.

Does the TPS have to be reset after the pipe is done or did you just do that on your own?
Any other tips for us that have not done it yet?

Thanks for your help. I can't wait to get this thing sounding like it should.

Speed - A TPS reset is required when you change ECMs or as a tune up item at the 100K service. The value is stored in the ECM. Just changing the pipe doesn't require a TPS reset, however if you install a race ECM with your Drummer you will need the TPS reset.

Jerseyguy - thanks for the clarification on the TPS reset. That is what I thought. I just wanted to check as I am having the 1000 service done next week and the TPS reset is the primary reason for it. I am gonna get my pipe after that.
I will stay with stock ECM for now.
Thanks again.

Good choice to stay with the stock ECM. The dyno charts on this site indicate there is really nothing brought to the table with the race ECM except a higher RPM limiter. No real increase in torque or HP. Drummer will be a nice addition. I am going to send my can away soon.
