Does anyone have experience with putting a 6 speed trans into an XB9S? I'm also curious about big bore kits and nitrous. |

Does anyone have experience with putting a 6 speed trans into an XB9S? Only people with an active imagination. There's not one made for the XBs, no trap door. I'm also curious about big bore kits and nitrous. Do a search, I believe it was Norrisperformance (I think that was his user name), that was doing quite a bit of research on nitrous. For big bore kits check out the Knowledge Vault, LOTS of good info in there. Oh yeah, welcome to the BadWeB! |

bakerdrivetrain.com makes a six speed for the xb's. most people don't like them though because the 6th gear only drops about 500 rpms from the 5th gear. i think it's worth it though since the average trucks 5th gear only drops 500 rpms and our bikes red line isn't that far from the normal vehicle. it's not like they just added a gear and said "good enough." i'm sure they tested and retested and the configuration they came up with was the best to please everyone. I don't get it. Complete gearset including shafts and gears, less the 5th (maindrive) gear pair. Gearset is assembled to the trap door including bearings, ball bearings, thrust washers, and retainging rings. XBs don't have a trap door.

The BAKER™ XL6 is a six-speed overdrive ‘cartridge style’ gearset that converts any existing 1991-2003 Sportster/Buell to a BAKER™ six speed. I think they got their years mixed up. If it fit a 2003 it would fix all the way up to a 2005. |

You're not wrong, they are. They use a trap door, Buell stopped using a trap door when they stopped the tube frames. The last tube frame was in 2001. |

Thanks for the responses. I have a lot of desert and straight roads around here (El Paso). I am looking for ways to lower engine rpm when riding 85 - 90 mph. |

At this point you could go chain rear drive and adjust your gearing for that cruising speed, but remember that it will affect you at take off... |

Hey Glitch, I have a 2002 M2! Maybe the last tube frame parts were made in 01, but there are many 02 titled tube frame bikes.

2002 is last model year for tube frame. The reason it says that on the site is the Sportster used the trap door tranny through the 2003 model year and then had the redesign in 2004 model year. So it should read: The BAKER™ XL6 is a six-speed overdrive ‘cartridge style’ gearset that converts any existing 1991-2003 Sportster or 1991-2002 Buell to a BAKER™ six speed. |

Hell, I'd pay for a 6 speed for my Buell just for that 500 rpm less on the interstate. Might save some gas that way. |
