Make 'em replace it. I'm sure it's happened to others. I do my own tire mounting and have avoided the misfortune of a bent rotor. Good luck.  | ||

Blake you have a tire machine? Or just do it the o'l fashion way???? Just curious that if its the latter how much elbow grease does it take?? | ||

very easy to swap 17 inch rubber. with some warm soapy water, they almost fall off the rims. i use a six inch C-clamp to break bead, and a couple small "enduro" tire irons. really they come off so easy it is scary. | ||

last tire i had changed the rear brake seemed to be in a bind took back off cleaned and polished pins and such still not quite right | ||

lined up the paint mark with the valve stem, all the metzeler and pirelli cycle tires have been pretty well balanced as is. had to balance some dunlops in the past, but quit using them. | ||

Hanses, I do now, but it's one of those Harbor Freight manual dealios. Once I figured out how to use the thing it works extremely well. | ||

I've done my last 3 tire changes with tire irons. Used a couple of 2x4's and a convenient heavy shop table as a bead breaker. It's not that hard once you get the technique down. MCN had a good article on a home-made static balancer stand a couple of years ago. Takes about $10 worth of PVC pipe fittings and a few miscellaneous pieces of hardware. | ||

Thanks for the info. I'm sick and tired of paying so much to get so little. The last time I talked to Cycle Gear about a mount and balance, it was going to be in the $60 neighborhood (my tires not bought there), it used to be between $0 and $12. To top it off, it was 5:00 and they close at 6:00, for some reason their tire machines quit work an hour early. That place has really gone down hill as far as service goes. |
