Ok, so I just got finished installing my new Jardine exhaust. A couple of problems...First, at the front motor mount, the two spacers would not fit, which caused the muffler itself to be slightly off from the bracket for the muffler support ring. Right now, the muffler is attached to the head pipe but not by the support ring at the rear. Also, the muffler exit section is aimed right at the rear tire. If you are sitting on the bike, it turns and exits to your right. It looks like if it exited out the left side, it would be fine. Is there a chance they put the decals on wrong at the factory and the muffler should be flipped over?? I am really worried about all of these things going wrong and I don't want to harm the bike. Oh, and it is REALLY loud, I mean loud. Is everyone elses like this? When giving it half to full throttle it is popping really loud. |

You probably installed it wrong. Go back and read the directions. Make sure you have the bracket attached to the correct side of the front motor mount. Again, read the directions... I don't have a Jardine so I can't be much more help than that. All Blast after market exhausts are "REALLY" Loud. As far as the "popping" sound. Its hard to say if that is just the normal exhaust sound, or if there is something wrong. Is is back-firing or is the "popping" sound just your description of the sound in general? |

The popping sound is back firing at low RPM's with some reignition of the fuel resulting in sparks coming from the exhaust. I realize this is due to the fact that it has not been rejetted yet. But at higher RPM's it is the popping sound of the exhaust in general. I was just curious, because it is loud enough where people are telling me I might get a Noise Pollution citation. If all of the aftermarket exhausts are loud then I feel better. Also, the only time I have actually heard the exhaust was in a parking garage, and I know that amplifies the sound. |

THAT lean from an exhaust swap? I'd venture to guess that he's got a leak at the head / header joint - especially if nothing else has lined up properly. This is assuming that nothing ignition or fuel was damaged during the pipe install.... -Saro |

On the front motor mount issue, be sure to remove all the parts from inside the hole. The 2 metal spaces go in the hole 1 on the left and one on the right. |

Pro Series, not so loud. Maybe the Jardine silencer insert is in order. |

Jmorristn. I think you may have your spacer in the wrong way. The taper narrow end goes in first. so when you tighten the nut it will squeeze the spacer together and line it up in the hole. I have the Jardine on my blast. You can see the mounting in the Café Blast project picture folder. And ya..!1 the mother is really too loud for long rides. I am waiting for my silencer to come it. |

Where could I get the Jardine silencer insert? Also, for those of you with the Jardine, when sitting on the bike, does the L shaped bracket that attaches to the muffler support ring mount on the side closest to your left leg or right leg. I have it on the left side, the same side as the mounting point at the front motor mount. (Message edited by Jmorristn on November 01, 2005) |

Ok, so the L bracket for the muffler support ring goes on the OPPOSITE side from the kickstand? What about the front motor mount, does the headpipe bracket go on the same side of the bike as the kickstand or the other side? Also, Faster, do you have any upclose shots of your Jardine? It is kinda hard for me to tell from the shots on the board. |

Jm..everything on the Jardine should really be in the right side of the bike. i will try to get some close up for you tomorrow. |

The reason I ask is because this picture makes it seem everything goes on the same side as the kickstand.

Don't the directions say which side?! |

Yea, they say "left side" which depends on how you are looking at the bike. That's why I am confused. Does the headpipe bracket tighten flush with the head? When I tighten it, there is still a space between the header bracket and the head. Also, no matter how I mount it, the exit for the muffler points right at the rear tire. Is this right? I am worried about the excess heat on the tire. (Message edited by jmorristn on November 02, 2005) |

I called jardine, they said everything should be on the left side of the bike (same side as kickstand). He said that mounting it on the right side could cause a leak at the head. Faster, you might want to double check the installation of yours. |

Did you take the 1st exhaust gasket out before putting in the second? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Ok, so I finished the reinstall after talking to Jardine. Went ahead and stopped by the HD dealer for a new exhaust gasket to be safe. Everything lined up this time, and the exhaust doesn't point right at the tire either. Everything looked good, with no leaks. Started her up, the horrendous backfiring is gone, although there is still a little if I rev it up and let it come back down, but that is expected from a free flowing exhaust. So, decided to take her out on the streets. Man did I get some looks! It was loud, but not unbearable for me (22 year old college student). There were a few double takes from people walking the streets, but the best was a guy on a GSX-R, he almost ran off the road trying to turn around and look. I am very pleased with the end result, regardless of the time and effort it took. I know it is installed correctly, so now I'm looking forward to riding the crap outta it. Oh, and a rejet is soon to come. |

Sounds like you got it figured out! That little popcorn backfire on decel will go away with the rejet, and you'll notice a pickup in power too. |

Jm..I looked at your picture of your Bike, and it does not seem that very logical what the Guy at Jardine told you. If you have the bottom from gasket mounted on the Left side like in your picture then the front pipe will be off the center front by about a whole pipe width. The way you have it now the pipe and Exhaust is off center and is more to the left on the bike. My mounting has the Pipe dead center at the front and the exhaust dead center at the bottom of the motor. You may want to send a picture to Jardine and see what they said. Here is a picture of my mounting. I have no leaks what so ever. EZ..Erik...what do you guys think...?

Jm..also if you have the mounting on the left side then for sure the exhaust (with bend to the right) will now exhaust the heat directly to the back tire, because the muffle is too far to the Left. |

If you are still interested the silencer can be purchased at Iron Machine for about $27.95 and they will custom mill it to your request. The representative from Jardine told me the silencer will reduce the sound level to about 92-95 db Of course the more you restrict the exhaust the more power is lost. http://www.ironmachine.com/index.php?cPath=65 What does it sound like? I know it is loud but is it more mellow, a lower sound or just more like a lawnmower without a muffler? Anyone know how it compares to a Pro-Series exhaust as far as sound quality? thanks in advance joe (Message edited by pajoe on November 03, 2005) |

When I attempted to mount the front header pipe on the right side like you have, it was way out of alignment at the head. If I mounted it at the head first, and then tried to mount the front pipe on the right like you, it wouldn't line up at all. For me, the only way it would fit was on the left side. Also, my exhaust doesn't exit on the tire now that I have it on correctly. I'm not sure why there is such a difference in our experience with the Jardine. |

You know a fool proof exhaust would probably have the V&H front mount and the Jardine rear mount - quick - whoever patents that puppy with a decent header and can could make a fortune due to no mounting issues - therefor no warranty issues! - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |
