I went into one of my little local shops in Orange, Cycle Pit Stop, http://cyclepitstop.com/ to look for some Gloves yesterday and found out that they are moving to a new location. Disputes with the landlord.... They have no idea where they are moving to, but they are selling off their current inventory for 50% off. I bought an new Scorpion EXO helmet for $70, a Joe Rocket Nova Jacket for $80, and a pair of Held Akira gloves for $100. If I was in the market for some Held Gloves, or a new Helmet, I'd check it out. Their inventory is limited, but they had Arai, KBC and Shoei lids in stock, and Held Akira gloves in the 9 to 10 range in both black and red. I'd hate to see this shop go under, they are a great small service shop. I hope that they find a new palace soon. James |

SCAB (Southern California Area Buellers) gathering is tonight (Oct 6th), 7:30 PM. It will be held at the usual place (Knowlwoods), located on Imperial at La Palma. Coming from the east or the west, use the 91 Freeway and exit at Imperial. Go north on Imperial to the second light, which is La Palma. Turn left on La Palma and take the first driveway. Knowlwoods is up on the right....look for the bikes, a lot of different riders meet there. I can't be there, unfortunately. Too much going on, and I threw my back out today, I'm moving like an old man. Between Joanne's broken collarbone and my back, American Sport Bike is hardly running like a well oiled machine today... Ebear and Mark will be there, as will others, I'm sure. Al (Message edited by al_lighton on October 06, 2005) |

Charlieboy, I'm way north of there near Santa Monica. I just got here from NM and am looking forward to learning the roads around here. I get the bike delivered next Monday, so we'll see how it goes. |

Well it looks like I will probably end up in Cyprus is January for a few months for work. I am still trying to talk the company into letting me drive out so I can bring my bike. I will know more in a month or so. Hopefully I can meet up with some of you for some riding. |

Speed Channel will be showing a feature on the Chevy Corvette Z06 Supercar at 3 pm today. This is like a civilian version of the C6-R Vettes that were raced in the American LeMans Series at Laguna Seca this last Saturday, 10/15, and came in 1st & 2nd in GT1. 'Twas a fantastic 4 hr endurance race that raced into darkness. Camped at the track in the general camping area with my son just down the hill from our Corkscrew View MotoGP site. Seemed kinda dead though as compared to when there's 50,000 people around you. But it was fun and if they have this event here next year, I'm there! |

This Sunday is the annual Griffith Park Sidecar Rally. If you want to see some interesting motorcycles with uuh, "chairs" attached, this is the place. Be there between 9 am and 1 pm. Possibly, if he shows, you might see the only Buell with sidecar around (not mine, mine was a leaner on a FXRT; his is rigid mounted). |

Darn, and it's too early for April fools. Oh well, I'm the fool for missing out on one of my favorite events. Next time remind me to have the flyer in hand as I'm typing these announcements, if I can remember where I put them.... Thanks, Sparky |

I went for a late ride up to Newcomb's. Sat next to 3 kids. One of 'em on a new Busa with his girl, one with a mid 90's VFR. Apparently, the Busa kid had just wrecked some other bike. They were discussing Motorcycling 101 over lunch. I was trying to figure out a way to sneak over to the girl and tell her to find an alternative means down the hill and never get on the back of the nice but unfit for riding boyfriend. As I was eating my Ortega burger, a guy on some Suzuki super cruiser and his girl took off. As I was headed down the hill, I had to do some MONDO panic stoppage mid corner as I came upon a bunch of stopped cars - and this Suzi... Both riders were totally ok on a cursory eyeball examination - but the girl was NOT doing well. I wished someone in a cage could've given her a ride down the hill. I love the crest. I hate that super squids seem to be drawn to it - like moths to a freakin' flame. We all make mistakes. It's the frequency and magnitude that really determines the final outcome. -Saro |

Ouch. I've seen that a time or two. Where is this Newcombs at? I've only just got the bike out today for the first time. I rode up PCH to Malibu just to stretch my legs a little. (Figuratively, of course. There is no stretching of legs on the Firebolt!) I need to find some folks to ride with. I may be able to get some ride time this weekend. I think it'll depend on my honey-do list. |

Newcomb's Ranch is 27 miles up Angeles Crest Highway. A wonderful road - if you can find a time to ride it without squids, roadhogs, and the Fuzz. Motorcyclists have done much to harm their own rep on that marvelous road and contribute heavily to the cost of patrolling it 'cause many crashes require the use of one of those giant freakin' rescue choppers. Though I'm not local to the Santa Monicas anymore, I used to ride 'em every weekend. The situation there is nowhere near as bad as on the Crest - IMO. -Saro |

This sunday the Southern California BRAG group and SCAB folks are going to converge on Hells Kitchen at 2:00 and watch the last MotoGP race (Valencia) at 3:00 there on the big screen. Nicky's only 9 points down from 2nd place and has been on fire, maybe he'll get 2nd in the championship. Go Nicky! The BRAG group will leave from BIGGS San Marcos at 11:00, be there at 10:30 if you want to come. I don't have a pre-planned ride, we'll wing it based on who shows up. If folks are into it, we'll take the dirt road up the back way into Killen trail, but if folks don't want to do the dirt road, we'll go up the 74 out of ElSinore. My cell phone is 760-685-3583 if you need to reach me. Al |

Last year on the Friday before, there was an event at the Petersen Museum-- a pre-Love Ride auction of vintage and collectible bikes. Bunch of us L.A. Buellers showed up to gawk at the beautiful bikes and eat all the free canapes... Is there an auction this year as well? Is anyone riding down there this Friday evening, the 11th? (Well, I just checked the Petersen website... nothing listed... I guess I just answered my own question!) (Message edited by tommy_2stroke on November 09, 2005) |

Tommy_2stroke, a guy from Santa Monica! Amazing! I've been hard pressed to locate any other Buellers near me. Seems every time I find one, they aren't very social. I'm in Brentwood and looking for some good roads and good folks to ride with. I went by Glendale HD/Buell the other day, but they were not quite as friendly as I'd hoped. Are they a Buell friendly dealer? Good Service Dept? After Santa Fe HD/Buell, I'm spoiled and looking for a quality service dept. Anyway, I'm looking for good rides, so call if you are going out and willing to allow me to try to follow. (310) 207-1680 home, or cell (505) 450-2700. See Ya! |

Hey Ghost/CJ, you're the guy who recently moved to LA from New Mexico, right? I go to Albuquerque from time to time, but have never had the opportunity to ride when there. But yeah, we should meet up sometime and ride. I'm the "red lantern" on any group ride (caboose) so you won't have any trouble keeping up. So, there IS something going on at the museum tomorrow night? For free! The magic word... I'll be there... anyone else going? Its a fantastic museum. They even got some motorbikes from the Jurassic era... |

Hey ghostrider- Buellers are around. Glendale is a good place. Not everyone is necessarily ready to jump off their chrome barge but there are quite a few Buellin' employees, RACERS (!), and there's dealer support at local race / track days. Did you talk to Ernie? Next time you're there, that's who ya need to talk to... -Saro |

Sarodude, based on the stuff you wrote in your profile about your Blast experience, I hope that wasn't at Glendale. If it was, I might never go there again!! Anyway, hopefully there will be some good Buell rides coming up. I'm not going to make that Love Ride they've got this week but maybe something else down the pike. |
