remove turn signal with 13 mm open end wrench. remove plastic spacer, shorten steel mounting pipe with fine tooth hacksaw. rethread pipe with 8mm-1.25 die, re-install without spacer. takes about 10 minutes to do both front indicators. a bench vise is not essential, but will make the job a bit easier. |

hhmmm the thread is "Shortening firebolt turn signals" you cant make the firebolts any shorter, they dont have spacers. |

Shortening is a nice trick and it maintains the stock look. (Some of us like that look) Did it on my old bike. I wonder though about doing it on these bikes. The stalks are a bit floppy and help to absorb the vibes. I wonder if shortening the stalk would have a negative impact on bulb life... |

i like the look of the stock turnsignals, aftermarket ones are nice but these are free. i saw one that had the flexible part of the mount removed and the housing was mounted flush upto the body.i don't see how you can rethread the bolt, this is a firebolt not a lightening with the big long spacer and bolt. |

you can also purchase stock rear signals and put them on the front. they do not have the spacer and only cost a few bucks. |

I did the same exact thing on my last bike. The front and rear lights were identical except that the rear stalks were longer. Replaced with another set of fronts to tighten up the rear very nicely and retain a consistent stock look. |

As johnparts posted...I did it to mine.... before: after: This can be achieved by taking the plastic off the rubber stem. Then with a blade you can cut off the rubber but leaving one of the flex points so that the "chrome" part of the turnsignal grabs on and holds. Then you trim down the bigger part of the rubber stem so it fits into plastic. Yes, i was really bored one day and wanted to change my signals and had yet to find a good alternative at a store near me...now I am running a 3 led micro upfront that looks like this... sorry for poor quality pics...low light and quick post will do that...if you want better ones feel free to pm me |

$15 bucks a pair at www.cyclegear.com I shortened mine at first but they continued to shake up and down at idle so I installed these. really inexpensive and rigid.
